It's our turn

Postby SavaTheAggie » Tue Sep 20, 2005 2:38 pm

Well folks, it looks like it's Texas' turn to get a hurricane. And here I am in Houston, just on the wet side of the center prediction (as of the time of this post).

I may be evacuating come thursday, and if that's the case, I'll leave a little note here. In the mean time, this is just a little heads up about a possible absence.

I'd also encourage any of our members living on the gulf coast to never... EVER underestimate the power of a hurricane. Some people may have thought it wouldn't ever get as bad as Katrina, but most of us around here knew better a long time ago.

If I go, I'll be heading up to Texarkana (or Texarkanistan as my friend Paul likes to say), where I was this spring.

And before anyone asks, yes, some of the LEGO is coming with me :) Mostly the figs and a few things that are pretty hard to replace. The rest of it is getting put in bins and duct taped shut.

Hopefully you, your family, and your lego will be safe. I will keep you in my prayers along with the rest of the Katrina victims.

I'll say, I remembe hurricane Juan. It sent my favorite tree into the office building across the street.

Good luck with that, You, you and family and the lego.

Hopefully it will all just fizzle out.

Hey Tony,

Keep safe, man. I've got a relative in Galveston and am kind of worried. Her apartment is about two blocks from the beach, so if there's lots of damage she'll get hit pretty hard.

Good luck, God bless, and stay safe, Tony. But you shouldn't have a problem since you're going about this intelligently.

Is Ulmaris going with you? You did say "things that are hard to replace."

I hope you, your family, your house and your Lego emerge safe and unharmed after this ends. I shall pray to the god of four winds (Veterboh) for you.

I feel compassion as I also have a favourite tree, and my sorrow would have no limits if it was destroyed  .

It would be hard to replace, but also very hard to transport, wouldn't it?

There'll be plenty of people praying that Rita- or any major hurricane- holds off on attacking you, and not just for the sake of Garadaine & Co., but for everyone trying to catch their breath after Katrina.

Here's hoping that this one, at least, passes you by.

Here's an update:

Rita's lookin to be a Category 4 hurricane.

Rita's lookin like its gonna hit west of us, putting us on the wet side of the storm.

We're under a mandatory evacuation.

So even if I actually wanted to stick around, the fuzz would be on my tail like white on rice.

I'd have to be stuck up in here tighter than a frog's butt in a watermelon feed pipe to stay.

Guess I better skidaddle before that frog strangler come's into town!
