LEGO Digital Designer-a tool to rebuild classics?

You may try to call Lego up directly and say you'd like to buy some loose bricks. I have bought a number of things directly from Lego and they have been most helpful. You need to get a complete list together and the ID numbers first though. I have never ordered a huge order so they may or may not have a limit on pieces. AS the Pick a Brick selection states, they have much more available than is listed online and to call with further questions. They price wise might be somewhat more expensive than BL but the prices are pretty good as well.

I have the same problem with BL but after a fair amount of looking I do usually find a few stores who sell all I am looking for at one place. BL was a great idea!

I had one of those thoughts that occurs to you in the middle of the night: Has anyone out there used Lego's digital design service to re-create those awesome smaller sets that everyone seems to want but can't get for less than $50 on Ebay? Is this financially viable?

I have often thought that myself, but you really can't make the figs, or the sets with doors, or horses. Unless there's a way to get more bricks on your D.D.

If you have already downloaded the LDD program, the next time you access it, and are online, it will load the bricks into your program to give you your virtual stack. The new bricks load automatically, but it also takes away a few bricks from the previous assortment. The LEGO giveth and taketh away.

There are Castle elements, but no swords, shields or helms were included so I wonder just how successful they will become in MOC factory building.

I have tried to make some castles on the lego design but very slow so far. For me it would be better once they get all the pieces on PaB to just use the inventory pages and make an order with them all.

(though) I have a problem with the front door,like you can see I had to split it in 2,it just simply would not co-op. Even (though) I was lurking the instructions of the Royal Knights castle the digital designer just wont let me make it so

Since this thread was "revived" from 2008, just wanted to post that while LDD is a good tool to "virtually" rebuild classics, the DBM feature is being
retired and you wont be able to "buy" the physical models unless you order them through online Pick-a-brick or from Bricklink.

There is most likely going to be a greater scope of parts in the LDD pallett because Lego won't have to honor the parts used in the LDD software
anymore...and I hope that there will be a parts list generator on the next version of LDD.
