This looks cool and I want to buy one but is it worth it? I mean has anyone actually looked up the prices of all the minifigs and added them together? If not I may o this to see if its a good deal. I think it is but I want to make sure.

Well, there is more than just the figs, there is also the weapons and shields adorning the board and such, and, of course, all those black and white tiles. I saw a MOC somewhere with an alternating black and white tile area, and I was planning to do something similar as a floor.

This set, despite the price, is a bit of a godsend to me. Due to reading the Order of the Stick and listening to Nightwish, I'm writing up a Lego roleplaying game. In the fantasy version (the one I'm working on now), Humans, Dwarves, Undead, Goblins, and Trolls are all playable, and I need more wizard hats. The presence of gold, weapons, sheilds, horses, and towers only sweetens the deal. 8)
That said, because of this set and all the other Lego (and dice) I want to get, I have to cancel my plans to get a Wii and instead plan to get a job. My mom's gonna pitch in some money too, so that'll help.
And on a vaguely related note, this new game does not mean I'm abandoning Cannon and Cutlass. I'll get pop in and get around to that sooner or later.

I need some skellies and some Crownies. Can't wait to get one!

And here's a great close up of her face:

Call me weird, but I think this is the sexiest face Lego has ever made.
And another of her torso:

The set at brickworld was all kinds of awsome. The dark green witch is an incredible fig. I am not sure about the parts contained in the castle chess board as I did not get to build it. but the extra gear that comes with this set is amazing. Shields and weapons by the boatload. It has a great representation of the four factions in the corners. It looks much better in person.

I think the dark queen puts this over the top for me. I think now I'll get this set, as no telling how much that figure will go for on bricklink.

I am thinking the same thing. One could argue that a witch is not appropriate in an advent calendar. But it will be a more affordable way to buy the figure.

This weekend I had the opportunity to build this chess set at BrickWorld. It has excellent pieces and figures. The four corner models are very nice designs. Pictures can be found in my flickr BrickWorld images: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9321695@N03/

Ooh yeah, hopefully it is the same one in the calendar. They're going to be selling a lot of those.

Is it possible to provide deeplinks from flickr? For those of us who can't view the site?

And what sort of pieces are in it? Specifically, what is contained beneath those tiles?

God bless.
