Dear GerardThank you for contacting us on 09/04/08 and for your interest in LEGO® brand products. The particular set you inquired about is not available here in this country. Each year, we update our assortment of items with new and exciting products to suit a wide variety of interests. However, a LEGO product offered in another country may be, at some point, available here in this country. For a current list of product available for your country, please visit www.Shop.LEGO.com or contact our Consumer Service Department. Thank you again for contacting us. We wish your family many happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come. DanielleLEGO Direct Consumer Services

I even put links to the threads here at claasic castle to show all of the interest there is.

I received a very similar reply:

Dear Mr Manning
Thank you for contacting us on 09/04/08 and for your interest in LEGO® brand products.

The item you referred to is not available in our current product selection. Although it may become available in the coming months, company policy prohibits the release of new product information prior to its launch date. To confirm an availability date at a later time or to answer any questions, call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-835-4386. Customer Service hours are 8:00am to 10:00pm EST Monday-Friday and 10:00am to 6:00pm EST Saturday and Sunday. Please call also if you wish to request a catalog which will list our current line of LEGO toys as well as the suggested retail price or check our website at www.LEGOshop.com.

Thank you again for contacting us. We wish your family many happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come.

My response looked like this:

Thank you for your email from 09/06/08 regarding our web site.

The items which are shown on our web site serve two purposes: First, we want to show LEGO® fans the comprehensive listing of all products offered at retail stores and on the web site. Although some items may already be committed to retail stores and not available for distribution on our LEGO Shop, we want to show them anyway so our consumers will know that they exist.

Secondly, there are some instances when we have a fairly low supply of an item and we include the words "not available" since an item may quickly become out of stock and we do not have time to update the web site. Because we have the capability to update our phone ordering computer system immediately, an item like this may still be available by calling our order line.

Finally, the assortment by country does differ, depending on where an item has been shipped, inventory levels, etc. In the future, we are hoping to offer the same product assortment in each country but have information on current products only. At this time the item of interest to you is not expected to be available for sale in the United States.

Thank you again for contacting us. We wish your family many happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come.

Understandably so.

And just because everybody's getting a form letter from customer service doesn't mean that it's too late. I don't want to give people false hope, but we still haven't heard the very final word from higher-ups at LEGO.

Keep sending those e-mails and making those phone calls!

Just to warn people hoping to get it in Europe when visiting... The set appears to be a Lego Exclusive - so only S@H, Lego Stores (England, Germany) and I presume Legoland Billund & Windsor.

I wouldn't count for LL Windsor, the shop there is real disappointment. Was there on August and the only good thing were key chains (really lots of those) and pisk-a-brick (GBP 4,49 per 100g).

Except that NO dwarf mine, NO VW Beetle, NO Taj-Machal, NO Indiana Jones Peril in Peru set, NO Factory specials (skulls & starJustice) and only one (in the whole legoland only single one) giant castle chess set :/

Dwarf mine is not a Lego store exclusive but available in every toystore around here. VW Beetle is Shop@Home exclusive, Taj Mahal was only released this month. Indiana Jones peril in Peru is a North American release only set, and Factory specials are Shop@Home exclusive as well :)

Legoland Windsor has a small shop but by default it has the same product selection as the Lego stores have. The sets you mentioned above weren't available at any of the Lego stores around here.

With Taj Mahal, OK maybe it was not yet released, but:

- Indiana Jones peril in Peru you can buy in Toys-r-us (was it last weekend im TRU in my town) [Aliencat, for your information I also saw that set on July at TUR Eindhoven ;) ]

- my friend told me, that in LL Billund you can buy all S@H exclusives, so I was hoping to get one or two at Windsor as well

Thanks for posting that, really interesting 8) The suspense was killing me, I ordered mine last week, apparently it's been shipped, should be here soon!

I agree with you too about the Windsor shop - my family always try to do the majority of our Christmas shopping there (we have about 20 young cousins), and are always reminded of how disappointing it is.

It really sucks about this not being available outside Europe, I'd be furious if I couldn't get hold of it

Sent an email and got the same form letter.

Now only if we could see what sets are built from the inventory...

I would pray that the LEGO Corporate Lords are delaying their response because they're actually thinking about it as opposed to the mere appearance of thinking about it. What they need to understand is this has caused a lot of discontent and the people responsible for denying us this set should have their heads examined. It's not just us FOLs but regular parents(non FOLs) that will be buying a non LEGO (and thus less fun) calendar from some other vendor. A significant revenue loss for LEGO.

I hope that LEGO gets overwhelmed with calls and emails, let them feel the winter of our discontent. 8) But, then, we're still the ones without the set.
