Have any of you noticed that the blacksmith's shop and stable lack stairs? I love how they included the water wheel but of course that takes up the place of the stairs.

I don't know how to put stairs within the house itself though. If a person were to do that, he/she would have to remove one of the horse stalls. I did a count of the bricks and I figured that it would be impossible to use the "already-made" stairs and place it within the room without taking up all of the space. If you guys have a good idea on where to put the stairs I'd like to listen.

Really? You're disappointed that there aren't any stairs?

when they say it's a January release, doesn't that mean that it will be available for Christmas in de US? I thought that was the case with many sets. In Germany sometimes it is. Or right after Christmas.

I agree their is insufficient room for a staircase, it could be that the building includes a Black Plate, Modified 6 x 8 Trap Door Frame Horizontal

with a ladder against the wall that has been concealed by the angles of the photos that have been supplied. Somebody that has seen the set in the round may be able to confirm whether this is the case.

I note that a 6x black plate is shown above the stable in this picture.

Anyway that is how I would achieve access to the upper level given what I have seen.

I hope this is the case. I'd like to see it released in both Europe and North America before the holidays.

Worldwide release. This is an "Early Spring" set so it could be out as early as right before X-mas. I would plan on late January though.
Now, I'm confused... will this most likely be available in Lego official stores in the U.S. by the 13th of January?

Indiana Jones sets were an "early spring" release as well. Some of them arrived in stores the week of X-mas. Will this set be out in January? Yes. Could it be out in December? Possibly. Will it be out by January 13th?

Maybe.
We were told at BC'08 that it would be out in early January

LEGO DID SOMETHING RIGHT!!!
Really how amazing is the prospect, let alone the fact that they are finally releasing a village set. And even a peasent hood. And the plume pieces. Very nicely hidden. But not too well.

This picture may be a nice lesson in photographing LEGO. I'm guessing those are little mirrors set up to light areas that need highlighting.

That is so cool  8) !!
Now I'll have to save up in order to afford this and the new pirate ship

The lack of stairs doesn't bother me, I'll do what Mario suggested and put in a trapdoor with a ladder. I plan to investigate the possibility of putting an attic into the inn building (is that what it is? The one which isn't the blacksmith/stable anyway). Also, with the addition of an extension with a large archway and big doors, the two buildings together could make a really cool coaching inn 8)

That would be a terrific guess, spot on, I would presume. In film, we do the same thing, with various materials to get different reflections/lighting conditions. I've yet to hone the same principles scaled down to suit my LEGO photography, however...

(oh, and one more time for good measure: This set rocksors my sockors!)

That has to be a fantastic civilian set. It's going to be a great addition to the King's Castle Siege. :)

This is an awesome set, and it is great to see how TLG is listening to what the AFOLs want. The overall design is very appealing, and the incorporation of new pieces is very well done. I'm going to have to get myself a few of these. :P

That is a very interesting observation. I'm always looking for ways to improve my photography, perhaps I shall give this a try sometime...

Maybe if we're all really, really good and buy lots of copies of this set when it comes out, TLC will release another version that we can add to this one to flesh out our peasants even more.

I know I'll definetly be buying (at least) two.

That seems to be how I'm buying. Two of each of the larger sets, and as many as I can afford of the impulse and smaller sets. (Somestimes two, sometimes five or six).

Having said that, this is possibly my most anticipated set since I rediscovered Lego almost a year ago.
