Hmmm. I always just figured the brown carrots were old ones that hadn't gotten eaten and had gone bad. But what do I know? Maybe the old man is a gong farmer. If so, perhaps that's not a walking stick he's carrying. I guess we'll never know, huh?

Here's how you can add a ladder and door to your MMV:

Not bad on the door. Works for me.

As for the ladder, it only "works" when the house is open. I know, I'm nit-picking,

Most people have a way to get upstairs inside their house.

So, ok. After my prominent stand on the tree, I must say over the last few weeks since I posted it has grown on me. In fact I added some joining pieces and now I love it. A true change of heart.

For me, the stairs on the outside of the building add a bit of visual interest.
For my kids, it offers a bit more play value. They love to 'go through doors' and without the stairs on the outside, there would be one less door to go through. The stairs are easier to play with in their current location as well. Even little fingers have a hard time playing on the stairs inside a building.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

I just received and built mine and it's really an awesome set :D
So many great parts for a good price, and the houses look nicer in real life than on pictures, especially the tan one.

Having purchased 2 from a member here, and having been advised to build it as is before combining the 2, I have to say that this is one enjoyable build. Gone are the days of missing walls and aside from the missing staircase this is a beautifully functional set. While I don't see a simple ladder as the solution (most homes don't fold out when you want to go upstairs) it isn't something I'd get all bent out of shape about.
A great set, just wish we'd got a jersey cow as well.
Can't wait to see what TLG make for us AFOLs next,

When I was a lad my mother told me that if I stood around all day with my mouth open a weasel was liable to mistake it for his den and jump right in. If you have something to say, say it, otherwise, beware of weasels.

I think that its a pretty good set with lots of detail but I want to see lego bring out small sets or average size ones like the crossbow cart or tower raid. Of course the only other big set is the castle but this market village sees the return of the peasent and I hope they will bring more sets out with the peasent in.

Use your imaginations people! Are y'all this hung up about animated skeletons, dragons, wizards, and trolls also (well some of you may be :D )?!

But if just a ladder bothers you, you could redo the floor to include a trap door with the ladder underneath it.

:P :)

I could not agree with you more Adam, because I am also returning from my own "dark ages" away from lego. There are some beautiful sets currently available. I am very thankful that TLC put out the MMV because it seems (unless i am completely wrong) as if it is a set geared towards AFOLs.

Thus the 27 pages in this thread alone. I would bet money that LEGO will have more of these sets in the future. What would be nice is to have a similar Orc and/or Dwarven version in the future.
