Well, she IS referred to as the Blacksmith's Wife.

Heir of Black Falcon wrote:If peasant= commoner then there is no reason she could not be in blue or red, both being very common colors coming from madder or woad. Depends greatly on the shade and the amount of times in the dye bath. Blue from indigo, purple and black were expensive colors though. Also commoners could very from dirt poor to loaning money to kings and nobles so they could afford whatever they really wanted if they had the money to buy it.

I look at her as either a very wealthy commoner or noble. In the end most commoners did not dress in rags and such after the high middle ages, especially the 13th century being a time where commoners in England really were doing very well.

Of course, I very much doubt that LEGO was considering any of those things when they decided to include this figure with the Blacksmith's Shop. I imagine that the torsos for the blacksmith shop were simply the most appropriate torsos LEGO had available at the time (KKI era).

Don't get me wrong; I'm not complaining about the new Queen. I was simply trying to suggest was that there have been pleanty of other female minifigs that can be passed off as being more than simple common folk.

warrior queen maybe, princess no. see the bags under her eyes? you would need a much older queen if she was indeed a princess! or use brasso to miraculously reverse-age her!

however i am in agreement with you on her hair piece. simply marvelous for medieval minifigs. i don't quite like the "loose" modern hair pieces since in medieval times only loose women (aka prostitutes) wear loose hair. :P

Well the LEGO castle world is full of depravity then. Situation resolved.

The queen is very nice, love all the details - and that angry face is as unexpected as Keiken's angry face from Exo-Force!

Thanks John

I like that the minifig has printing to reverse as do the new peasants in the marketplace this is a big step forward and I appreciate it especially to marquee minifigs like kings/queens.

The tiara looks the same as this from belville

There are many other crowns and minifigure accessaries that I would welcome to the castle Lego line including

Belville, Clothes Crown Mini http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x250

Belville, Clothes Crown http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=72515

Belville, Clothes Cloak for King with White and Black Satin Trim and Stiff Collar http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=belvcloak1

B&W,

Yes my comment was less in regards to TLC and why they designed her that way and more to modern concepts of what a commoner would have to look like or be. I do not know how much Lego puts into any design honestly.

Well It would be great if they manufactured a witch for the crown faction.

I must say, I'm quite pleasantly suprised to see that her alternate face is fierce rather than scared/distressed. It seems like nearly every female figure released recently has a scared face on the reverse side of her head, which is moderately irritating to a feminist like myself. (Yes, some of the male heads have a scared alternate face, but far more have either a fierce one or none at all, and in any case the vast variety of male heads available makes it easy to build dozens of distinct characters without resorting to the alternate faces.)

Which version: The early long-haired bohemian or later mustached and more hard-rocking?

I really dig the alternative face. It's more annoyed than angry and has a great "We are not amused"-vibe about it. Glad to have the option adding less-then-jovial (but not outright evil) female royalty to a faction or two!

This gives me an idea: What if she's included in a set which features the jester performing for a group and if he fails to entertain the queen, he gets executed? Well, it could be something along those lines...

Those are both huge, unfortunately. They are hardly (means: not at all) appropriate for Minifigs.

The tiara and the mini crown of course are, and that's great. Finally another minifig hairpiece to use with crowns and tiaras. The first one wasn't too suitable for royalty breathing females:

This queen looks great! Cant wait to get my hands on one! But i'm not a big fan of the crown she's wearing...I think it looks a bit weird. Its flat and i wish it was grome gold...But thats just a detail. Great fig.
You want a piece of me?!?!
