The Five Kings

Post by gormadoc1 »

This is just realy a quick poll about the Kings from 2000-2009. There were five kings 9 years after the milenium. The kings are King Leo, King Mathias, King Jayko, the Good King and the none human one The Troll King

King Leo- He featured in sets only in 2000 and according to Brickset the theme was classed as Knights Kingdom 1 or I. It feautured him fighting the bull knights bringing it down to only two armies. Leo's forces were somewhat similar to that of the earlier Lion Knights yet I dont know if there was a connection, if you do know then please say. In 2000 Lego took a risk by changing Castle to see if they could give it a new feel and make it better, I think they did reasonably well but it didnt have the same feel as 80's and 90's sets did.Leo's my second favourite.

http://www.minifigs.net/webpage/images/ ... ng_Leo.jpg -heres the picture of Leo. :)

King Mathias- He was part of the Knights Kingdom II range from 2004-2006 but he was only part of it from 2004-2005. Mathias was the King and he had his Knights Santis, Rascus, Jayko and Danju who protected him you could say. His arch enemy was Vladek an evil Knight who wanted his power. Once again Lego brought another new feel to castle.

http://www.minifigs.net/webpage/images/ ... athias.jpg -here is the image of Mathias. :)

King Jayko -Jayko only appeared in one set, mistlands tower, as the King. Previesley he served Mathias as one of the Knights but after making Vladek weak King Mathias passed the crown on to Jayko making him king. He still fought Vladek but the other knights were not seen. New knights appeared Sir Adric and Sir Kentis who my friend tells me are santis's and Rascus's aprenttice's, if anyone can confirm this then please say.

http://www.minifigs.net/webpage/images/ ... _Jayko.jpg -heres the picture of Jayko. :)

The Good King -The Good King is the present King, he's been around from 2007-20?? . After Lego changed again and brought in this version of castle based on fantasty more than anything. He fights the Trolls and skeletons but the dwarves are on his side too. The new version of castle has been more succesful and has a bigger array of sets, although dont you just miss the old days when soldier fought soldier but Lego may put another human faction in in the future. He's my favourate because even though he doesnt have a name he just fits in fantasticly with the line and his minifig is great.

http://www.minifigs.net/webpage/images/ ... n_King.jpg -heres the picture of The Good King. :)

The Troll King-Is the newest and first none human king. He's only available in one set at this time, Trolls mountain fortress. Also this is quite new that lego releases a king without replacing an old one. I dont realy have much to say about him but his crown is the same design as gold ones but has a bronze look to it.

Well there you have it, choose which King like best or think deserves to be recognised, vote and say why you voted for him.
Thank you for your time.

I voted King Leo because he was my first ever Lego King. And The KKI Line was a great Line. I dare to say better than the line we have now!
But then KKII came and destroyed the Knoghts Kingdom line forever. :(
I do like the New line withe the Troll and what not, but the KKI line had one thing i got used to by playing with Playmobil when i was little. Humans against Humans.

I agree that kkII did destroy the bond but I never brought any KKI and King Mathias was my first king from the Millenium decade, but the good king will always reside better in my collection. King Leo does look pretty good though. He would have been my second choice. :)

I voted for The Good King, especially now that he has upgraded. And out of all of them, he looks like the strongest king. He also is the king of the crown army, which is one of my favorite factions.

I voted for King Leo by a slim margin over the good king, it simply came down to the fact that he did not let himself be capured by a bunch of trolls and the figure was more unique and therfore accordingly more king like.

The new good king torso design is very good, as was the prior use of the viking torso.

King Leo had stand alone unique horse barding, leg design and minifigure head design with grey beard, the good king still has that viking/aqua raider/dwarf head and only now receives a unique torso and leg design.

I picked King Leo. He looks like Sean Connery.

For me it was also a close call between King Leo en The Good King, but I ended up voting for King Leo.
I think he looks more wise and just than the Good King, or King Mathias and King Jayko for that matter.

I voted for the good king because he looks like he is the only king taking his position seriously. Also, his beard is awesome.

Neither option was my favorite, but I chose the good king in the end. Never really liked any of the other three.

Bingo. :)

I'm guessing that the original poster intentionally left out the Chess King and the Royal King as they pre-date his poll.

With that being said, I like the new King the best. His heraldry makes it easier for me to take him seriously. King Leo looks a bit too serious for a guy with a giant cartoon lion pasted on his chest.

The Royal Knight's King is soooo last millennium :P

No but seriously, as Gormadoc said in his opening post, this poll is about the kings of this millennium, and although King Leo made his first introduction in 1999, his sets were all still manufactured/sold in 2000 and some in 2001 as well.
So the question is really, who's the best king of this millennium, not who's the best king ever ;)

Also, somewhat unrelated, but as far as I know the Royal Knight's King is nameless, does anyone know if he was ever "officially" given a name by Lego? When I was a kid (I was 11 in 1995, when he came out), I always just called him Richard the Lionhearted, because he was the first real Lego king and had a lion crest.

I had stopped by 1995 more or less so I had only seen him in passing. He looks pretty cool. I think the chess king predates them all as I did have hime.

Of those from this last 9 years... the 'good king' has it for me. I was not collecting for KKI so I do not have King Leo but he does look cool as well. The KKII were just odd... I employ them but would not rank them best except the bad guys are very good.
