You are entitled to your opinions, but I respectfully opt to disagree.

From where I'm looking, these two KK2 visors are smaller in three directions (height, width, depth) than the old visors. And that's not even counting all the junk LEGO produced to accessorize the old visors.

Granted, they have more surface area, but it is my opinion that they are actually smaller than the old visors.

In any case, I still think the KK2 visors rock, regardless of how relatively big or small they are compared to the other visor

I like the shape of the two helmets you pictured, but the other colors of visor tend to be uglier in my opinion. I think the added surface area contributes to the illusion of greater size, but it is more the shape of the designs that bother me most. None of those visors could be used in a joust, the eyeslits are too big. I may rub n' buff a few to see how they look in decent colors before I write them off completely though. Thanks for posting the comparison.

Its not the size I hate, its the design. The design isn't attractive like the old ones. Not AS attractive, anyway.

Looking at the exact same pictures, I'd say they are more massive than the old visored helm from the front. From the side the old one looks like it is bigger, but as soon as you shift you view from anything beyond exactly level and exactly from the side, that will change.

Whether or not the new ones are "too big" I'll have to reserve until I actually have some of the figs.

Thanks for the comparison photos Anthony. It's good to see side by side. I would say that in terms of size/bulkiness that the new and old visors are about equal - depending of the angle of view.

My preference is still with the old, however. Perhaps because the new ones are "full face" (covering the underlying helmet completely from top to bottom) the dominant agularity of the new visors does not combine well with the roundness of the helmet, when seen from the side. The old visors have angles too, but they are in complement to the rounding rather than in competition.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that I've adequately expressed what I mean, but I can't think of another way to put it. Sorry.

To me, most of the new visors look too large from the front, and I don't think that they blend in really well with the rest of the helmet when viewed from the side. Still, upon closer examination, I do like the purple visor.

I like the older visors better, but I will have to get a KK2 set before I really decide if I like or dislike the new visors.
I know this might seem kind of pointless, but could you compare the new KK2 visor to the old 375 visor? Thanks.

Call me crazy, but if I had a choice between the KK2 visor and the classic 375 visor, I'd choose the KK2. I've never quite liked that one anyway.

If I were to make an army of knights I would still prefer the old dark grey visor (middle one) regardless of its size, because it just looks better on knights. I would use the KK2 visor on a special knight or something.

Old thin ones. But not just old thin ones, because there are two versions of the 'classic' LEGO helmet. One has a thin chinstrap, one has a thick chinstrap. This reenforced chinstrap was introduced because, I can only assume, the thin chinstrap tended to break too easily.

However, the chinstrap could only be made thicker in one direction: away from the minfig's head. This meant that the classic castle visor would not lie totally flat against this new helm.

So while the 375 visors fit on both thin and thick chinstrap helmets, they don't lie flat (or even with the minfig's eyes) unless on a thin chinstrap helmet.

Then I just saw something quite shocking on eBay. This guy selling 375 visors at $15 each, and I think they were GLUED onto "standard" helmets.

Now that there's a comparison.... I think the old helmets and KK2 ones are about the same size. But since you can't slap a plume on KK2 helms, the older ones look way bigger.

IMO, only Vladek's helmet looks good. I'll be using those on my <<CLASSIFIED>> army.
