(unofficial) Minifig Review: Royal Knights - Knight 2

Discussion of official LEGO Castle Theme sets and products

I always liked this knight. Sadly I only ever had one. I wasn't a fan of the head and this fig would have been an excellent chance for TLC to make black euro armor back before castle became the realm of jelly beans. Anyway on to judging the knight for what it had. The colors were decent, the helm was good and despite the reservations of others, I like the RK lion. I'll give it a 7/10 because it needed armor and a more "Noble" face. This was the Royal Knights after all.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

This is my first post :D

About the knight's armor, it is my edecated opinion (my mom is a history teacher at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, which is the fourth best high school in the country.I'm going there next year for eighth grade!) that the royal knights theme is from the time of Richard the first (the Lionheart). The armor at that time for knights was generally a full coat of chain mail, a coat of plates, a tunic or tabbard, and some sort of helmet that completely encased your head (such as flat topped helmet or somewhat later a visored bascinet)

Assuming that the black hands and legs are chainmail armor, the fig fits all of that except perhaps that the helmet, being a Lego visored helmet, looks most like a close helm armet. That, however, can be overlooked because it looks cools

Welcome to CC!
While this fig might fit the description of a knight in that era, somehow I don't think that Lego had anybody specific in mind when they created this subtheme (or any other theme for that matter). Everyone has this romantic image of a knight in shining armor when they think of the middle ages... I think Lego was trying to capture that image. Perhaps some of those romantic notions come from Richard the Lionheart's era?
