Hello!

Does anybody else experience this peculiar behaviour?

The crown won't stay on a minifig's head.
I told the Lego Service about that problem, mainly in order that they get to know it rather than for me getting a new one. (Which I got. Thank you very much.)
I wonder, though, if in future sets the problem will appear again.

Huh-- so, which was the problem? The crown or the head? Normally, I would have assumed the crown, since it might be possible that the chrome went on too thick. But then again, we've got our new made-in-China figs that have me worried that their tolerances might be a bit more off, meaning maybe the stud of the head was made slightly too large. Is it repeatable with different heads and/or different crowns?

Most likely the crown is to blame. It behaves the same on different heads I tried, while other hats and hairpieces on those heads didn't show any signs of jumperism at all.
Since 1995 the new Castle 7946 is the 24th set containing a crown. I wonder if they (Lego) ever replaced the original mold. Maybe they did and that's the problem. Or they did not but should to.

I've never experienced it in my collection, but I just have to say your video gave me a decent chuckle. Kinda reminds me of all those dreams as a kid where my Lego came to life....

I did have this problem with a new lion battle pack but I couldn't replicate it with other headgear/heads.

I had this issue with the Rebel Helmet from the Battle for Endor set. I let Consumer Services (US) know and they sent me two new ones which work fine.

I also had a similar problem with the tan 1x4x1 arches on the brown arched windows in the MMV. They just kept popping off, that is, until I got out a video recorder. They stayed on just fine after that.

I had this problem too, though I thought it was just the cape on the fig that made it jump up.

Not that it really matters to me too much. I don't use crowns to much, and have a few extra ones.

I had one like that as well, I think it was from the 7078 King's Battle Chariot set from the Fantasy line. I'm pretty sure it was the crown because I swapped it out with an older crown I had and the older one didn't pop off the same fig.

Cute video. :)

I haven't had any problems (yet) with crowned figures. But I am having issues with (some of the) newer figures not being able to click onto a base plate. Some are okay, while others are just extremely loose. I'm referring to the new Lion and Dragon knights. Anybody know if this is due to inferior molds or manufacturing?

Thank you for pointing this out Jojo. I passed your video onto the LEGO Community Team and will post updates when I have them.

Hey,

I think Dave's probably right and it has to do with the chrome on the inside of the crown.

Although I wouldn't dream that my minifigs would come to life, I would dream that I had figures from some new faction that I had never seen before. Of course, I would wake up and realize it was a dream. Like most dreams, I could never remember it enough to write them down, no matter how intense.

As far as the crowns I never had them jump off, but they would lift a little while still on. On other newer heads they would be too loose. That is a nice little video, though.

TLG is requesting photos of the inside of the jumping crowns. I will pass this information to LEGO if anyone can provide it. Thanks!
