8778 Border Ambush question,

Post by J1A3L5 »

Hello all,
I am in the process of making 8778 which I just got in the mail, and I have a question about it. I know it has the new colours, but is the blue colour a "new" blue colour, or a "misprint" like happened in the Knight's Bus HP set? It is quite different from standard blue, but still similar. Such as Old and New Dark Grey.

It scared me to see a different blue colour. Is it supposed to be?

I hope this is the right place to put it, as it likely does not apply to 8778 exclusively.

The blue has changed, can't you tell?

It is a new color, and it is called "Blue Violet" on BrickLink.

It is not a replacement for standard blue... at least I do not believe it is.

?? That didn't tell me anything new, or answer my question. It has changed like the greys and brown? I never heard a thing about that. If it has, I'm very surprised at the lack of caring. To me, blue is even more of a core colour than grey or brown.

Oh well, I just couldn't believe it when I found a new tone of blue. Wierd.

Oops - We posted at the same time and I missed your post.

Okay, that makes more sense. It is definately Violet - I actually like the colour more than standard blue, but it lacks something. Maybe it's too non-blue-like? Anyhow, thanks for responding, and I hope you're right.

Phew... I don't think I could have coped with another colour change. After that they would have made a whiter white and a darker black! But a new colour is ok.

Looks like the arms on the Kings torso from the KK2 sets is in Violet Blue, not old blue. I had not noticed this before.
