New Member - New Question re: 375/6075

Hello all,

I am happy to have found this site. I recently traded a NIB 6075 to someone and as a part of their online references I found that he was active here. Very nice site and I enjoy viewing the creativity in the customs.

For all you old school castle fans - my favorite sets BY FAR are the 375/6075 and 383/6083. I am looking for some infromation regarding the differences between the 375 sets. I have owned about 10+ opened 6075 sets, 2 NIB 6075 sets, and only 2 of the 375 sets. All of the sets (EXCEPT 1) have a stated piece count of 779. Peeron shows the set to have 779 pieces (although I think Brickset states 767). All of the boxes that I have owned have had the flip top lid (EXCEPT 1).

The exception I note is a set I have recently picked up. It is a 375 set and the box lists a piece count of 788??? The box is also not a flip top but rather opens on the ends and there are two detached white boxes inside.

This may be a tired conversation so my apologies if this is old news. Kindly pointing me in the right direction would be great.

The difference in boxes might be it being a Europe/US version. I'm not definite on this but a quick look on does show that there were different versions available.

Hopefully someone with a bit more old school knowledge will be able to be a bit more helpful.

First up, welcome to CC! I hope you enjoy your stay here. There are several people (not me) here who know a lot about collecting old sets, but the one person I would ask first is Jojo, a German AFOL who really knows a lot about this stuff. He hasn't been active in this forum recently (he last visited here several months ago), but you could leave a message for him via his Flickr account (he posted something there within the past two weeks). If you don't have a Flickr account, it's a free photo-sharing site that many of us use to show off pictures of our LEGO creations.

One possibility is that the 6075 set (and possibly 375 set) contained two sets of visors for each knight. Many of the online inventories do not take this into account. With separate production runs in different countries it is possible that certain basic brick elements were substituted in one version over another. TLG sometimes also included additional elements to allow alternate models to be built.
