I really like the set because of the face and the target - great for building your armies and setting up tournament events in the courtyard.
It would be great to see some of these simple style sets rereleased - rather than just the figs and weapons they have been producing. Don't know if they would be as good with Jellybeans though ...

That's an interesting idea, and it definitely makes a lot more sense of the bush. I'm not sure how well it would work with the base of Royal Knight's Castle though, considering the fact that baseplates tend to be a little "shorter" than regular plates. It'd work great with other sets, though!
The bush is not hanging off the plate. It is behind the plate. This set was released for the Black Knights 2 years before Royal Knight's Castle. LEGO was probably just adding the bush because it was a new piece then that kids would want to get.
Got it when it was new. Still have it... The little target and guy look good mixed in with my collection and I seem to recall getting a lot of play out of it when I was a child, it was my only target piece so all of my archers wanted to use it.
The whole pack had a lot going for it and would have provided a good way for a kid to get into Castle. Maybe TLG could put out a new pack like this with an impulse set, a $5~$6 set (like the Crossbow Attack), and a $10 set of some sort. I would pay around $20 bucks for something like that these days.
