Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6002 (Castle Figures).

This four pack of figures was the only new set of 1983. 6002 is one of the most rare castle sets and was only released in Canada. The set features two knights and two soldiers with accessories.

Not a bad little set! you seem to be able to find all the figs in some other set, but to complete a classic collection... Canada only huh? To be honest I had never even seen this set. But it just went to the top of the wish list. Four classic figs, with a small collection of weapons, and very rare. all in all a great collectible.

Looks pretty good. But only in Canada and before I was born, I've never seen this before, and probably never will. I bet Will's got a few of these  It looks ok, I like the figure's but the plain sheild doesn't float my boat, the knights could use horses, and more weapons are needed. Come on a guy with only a sheild, and another with but a hand axe?!

Overall 4/10

I'm not sure what part of Canada those were available, but I can say positively they were never on shelves at the Medicine Bottle in my home town. The small town I was from didn't have a department store so many of the exclusives that went around back in the 80's never made it to my neck of the woods. If I had seen it I probably would have had it, I was pretty spoiled as a child, but not to worry my adult life has made up for that... Anyway if the set wasn't a classic, I wouldn't be too impressed, but the fact it came with my two favorite figs I have to give it high marks. Perhaps one day I will find a stash of these in a garage sale sometime... That would be sweet.

These guys are pretty neat; A great selection of weapons. One thing though, why only one sheald? Oh well, I'll probobly never own any of these. The blank sheald is good for custom designs though; I never want to cover up a preveous design because I'm afraid I'll find a use for it some day! I do like custom sticker designs, and someday I'll find a sheald I'll be willing to cover up; like the Star Wars ovoid sheald in the set "Gungan Patrol". One more thing, I'm not a fan of the early knight helms, and that drives this set down a little in my opinion. How much did it cost?

My quick review: This is a great minifigure pack. I like both knights and the soldiers (same type of guys as 677). This is definitely a set I want to own. The lack of weapons is interesting. It might have to do with the packaging method - clear plastic with a paper back - like a Star Wars action figure I think.

The problem with many old sets that I find as the set administrator is the lack of information of sets, especially rare ones. Plus sometimes European prices must be converted to US dollars. Unfortunately, I do not know the price of this set.

So, for any of you who have boxes of old castle sets - opened or misb - with original prices (preferably not discounted prices), please email me the information. I want to have a complete and accurate archive for everyone at CC.

I apologize for the huge post :D

This set looks great today simply because of its rarity. Ya know if I could travel back in time and buy 20 of those sets I'd have two completely new factions. And the light grey helmets are rare too.

Having said that, compared to the later minifig packs this one seems a little weak. The blank shield should have a motif, the guys should have a little more weapons and the light grey helmets should really be dark grey. Definitely would pick up some of these if I found them today, but I wouldn't pay that much for them.

I like this set for two reasons: 1 I love minifigs, 2 It's very rare.

I don't really need to say why this set is great, do I.

Oh, and by the way, i love those classic helmets :)

Hello!

That's a nice selection of minifigs. As a 'model' it is quite boring :-)

The problem that I have with this set is: Do I own it?
Since this is a Canadian set and quite rare even there, according to previous comments in this thread, I never owned a MISB copy of this set and I don't own the backing card, either. I have, though, the parts to assemble these figs and put them next to my built-up 375/383/677. Is that enough to claim "I own the set"?

I think Jojo that if you can build it with out pulling figs out of other sets then yes you can say you own it... i.e. if the figs are extras, or bricklinked... anyway, just a thought.

These are the sets one dreams of finding... MISB.

Four EXCELLENT figs, but rather disappointingly armed. Beyond its status as a rare set and being a great minifig pack, there's not much to say...

Parts: 6/10
Playability: 7.5/10
Figs/Accessories: 8.5/10
Design (then): 7/10
Design (now): 8/10
Nostalgia: 7/10

Overall Score: 7.33/10

I wish I could find one of these, although chances are it would be incredibly expensive. This was the standard for army builder sets. With the minifigs, and the weapons and armor, this was an awesome buy.

Pros: Classic minifigs.
Old style helmets
They actually look medieval. (Not like the KKII knights, although I do like them.)

Cons: It would be better to add a couple more swords.
Blank shield
No horses to build cavalry units.

Oh to be a Canuk back then when and where this was available.

These are two of my most favorite factions. I love the quartered sheild, and unfortunately only have one torso, with no sheild.

I don't really count these types as sets, simply more folk to populate my other sets, so I don't judge fig packs the same. These are all useful guys and very flexible to the roles you may need them to fulfill. The only improvements I could really see would be better weapons and sheilds.

I have always wanted these kind of knights. I recently got a few off EBay, and I loved them.

OK, now to the set. I think that this is a great little set. It has four figs(awesome), but they are under-equipt. Other than that, it is absolutely awesome.
