Honestly, I do not think this set is all that bad. The royal knights were one of the last themes i got to see before one of my dark ages, and because of such they have some sort of a soft spot in my heart :) . Although, I do not think it is neccessarily fair to judge the set and its parts based on what is or is not available in todays market. Most items in sets are now available (rather easily) through e-bay, bricklink, trades on this forum, and other means. So, perhaps the set should be judged in the period it was released if the discussion focuses around needed parts from the set. I think the "skeleton surprise" was interesting to me as a neat little set back in the day, which did not exactly burn a hole in my pockets. Something like an 8/10 in my opinion. Good reviews CCers, i enjoy reading them...

This set is a good start for building parts, one of the first sets I got, back from my dark ages, and off e-bay, it was only 2€, lacking only some little plates, say a 1x3 and a 1x4, no shipping because I was able to go and get it. :eyebrows:
Well, the surprise can be really surprising, if you manage to hide the skellie's arms, it can be achieved, I swear. Beside, the architectural structure is not very straightforward, espescially for the floor, wich can be dangerous for an archer to walk onto.
Mixed with another parts set like black monarch's ghost, you give it its barn doors, extend wall or make a tower up the doors with 45° wall sections, open the mausoleum's back, rip off the baseplate and put normal plates under the walls, add technic linking possibility, and you have a real modular wall section with gate. :)
It is a nice source of parts to modify forestmen's buildings, and back in the days, I think it was a nice set to start with castle theme too.

I like this, it's was one of the first set my parents bought me when I was really small, and getting a baseplate and those really sweet royal knight sheilds ain't bad either. ;-)

I like this set. Mainly because Royal Knights is one of my favourite factions and that the set comes with a great Royal Knight figure with a shield. Also I like the black wall pieces that are included in this set.
