The swivel and mount are superfluous - this set is about the fig, which is nicely complimented by crossbow, quiver, and a shield and extra x-bow tossed in for good measure. The fig has a handsome and generic torso and also presented a chance to get the excellent kettle hat in bulk. Even though it is silly, the swiveling dual crossbow "turret" is kinda cool. 8/10.
Can't say I remember how many I bought: 10-20, something like that (but through the magic of Lugnet, let me check my numbers there: 12).

The idea is a little silly... crossbows can't have arrows loaded in them when they are sideways... the arrows would fall out! Not to mention that loading each one would take too long to make the turrent design worthwhile.
Still... I bought about 15 of these.... why? As was said before...

After years with only Fright Knights and Ninja, KK1 was most welcome, and this set being the cheapest way of getting my hands on those great helmets and at the time I thought those torsoes were quite cool, so i bought about ten of these, later on however i lost interest in those torsoes and gave them to my little brother.
anyway this fig has one of the greatest faces ever made.
by the way, am i the only one who's got way too many crossbows?
well it's a great army builder and it comes with two green baseplates, not too great playabillity, but who cares, this set is not bought for play but army building, right?

Got my second and third of these on sale for $1.00 each. Yes, that is $1.00 Canadian, each. Wish there had been more there, but after those two for me, and then for my brother, I think we cleaned the place out. Shame...
As to the model, it doesn't appeal to me. I hate those large rotating round 4x4s. [2008 Edit: That has changed... I think I've almost run out of them.] I have too many of them. I'm not fond of crossbows, although they work here. The best part of the set, as noted by so many others, is the fig.[2008 Edit: And the quiver. Good set for getting quivers.]
Parts: 7/10
Playability: 4.5/10
Figs/Accessories: 8.5/10
Design (contemporary): 6/10
Design (universal): 6.5/10
Nostalgia: 7.5/10
Overall Score: 6.67/10 (C+)

All the pieces on this are pretty useful with the exception of the turntable, and the mini-fig looks pretty nice. I also like that they gave the mini-fig a quiver, which they often forget to give crossbow men.
Not a very realistic set, but it was meant to be bought for pieces. As such, it is actually pretty useful!
8 of 10.

As soon as I saw these I started buying them. Every time a store would have a % off I would go and cleann them out. I think that I ended up with about 150 of them. I got them for Christmases and birthdays for about two years.
In the story that I have been working on the make up the newest kings army. The large army has been broken up int many units.

The real question isn't how many people purchased, its what did everyone do with all the extra turn tables?...... I couldn't give the stupid things away, so I began randomly throwing a couple in when I sold extra parts on eBay.....SavaTheAggie wrote:Best

The set is nice enough considering the theme it was a part of (KK1), but other than the fig, there is nothing to it... I think I got maybe three of these (mostly because of the helmet) as well as other sets from the KK1 line in an effort to support TLCs 'new' Castle line at the time... I would not have bought any had I known they'd colorize their future sets so much that they don't even look remotely realistic... I'll stick to the Classics from now on... friggin' eBay & bricklink...
