I've never done this to my LEGO pieces, and while not a purist, I try to leave the brick alone. But... spraypaint. That's the only way I'll use those hideous helmets and crossbows. I'm sorry. I hate them.

but the Morcian soldiers would have been better in Mathias's blue.
That's true - :? It's a little strange that they chose Jayko, other than he is the hero of the comic, it really doesn't fit. Oh well.

Im guessing thats because maybe they are not original Morcian soldiers but are Talonjian soldiers. They share the same coat of arms as those of Jayko.

While I greatly hesitate to even suggest I know anything about history, and I also greatly hesitate to suggest that LEGO would have history in mind when creating any set...

...but isn't it true that while the King had his own royal army, most european kings (and kings elsewhere I imagine) relied heavily on the armies of their nobles? In this case, a Knighted Noble flying the barbie blue banner.

But regardless, as pretaining to the set, I have this to say:

Pre-order we will go
Pre-order we will go
Hi Ho the Merry-oh
Pre-order we will go!

Second verse, same as the first!

Pre-order we will go...

I ordered this set the morning after it came out. I, while formerly a castle person, have become a more star wars and space oriented builder. *dodges flying 2x4 bricks*

I have to say, these guys are fantastic looking to create my own factions. And plus two fair armies in 1 30 set? You have to be kidding me! It's fantastic!

I love the baby blue colour, and I'm not a girl. I liked it since the first wave, and when coupled with white and grey it looks terrific!

I know not many of you will be that interested, but I will be posting ym space and Star Wars MoCs over in general LEGO when the time comes, so watch out!
Look to my coming, on the first light of the fifth day. At dawn, look to the East...

The Hordesman wrote:A fun note: every piece except the light blue transparent cone and the kettle helm and crossbow can be found in other sets! Isnt that wierd?
You're right about the crossbows and helmets, but the 1x1 trans-light-blue cone comes in a few of the new Star Wars sets, like this one: http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7256

I was going to wait to buy this set when I get Vladek's Fortress and the Vikings sets, but I think I'm going to pre-order one now just in case it goes on backorder before it's even released!

Hey all,

Thanks for the great review, Jojo! I'm really excited about this set. Too bad about the white baseplate, but oh well, the checkerboard pattern will be a good courtyard.

Alright, my set finally arrived!

My first impression was. "Whoa. DUDE! This looks so much cooler in person!" (and I though it looked good when I saw Jojo's pics!)

The box is awesome, though it took me some stuggling to open it properly. The flip-up bit is cool, but I find it amusing that every since chess piece, even the non-figure ones, are pre-assembled. This must be the first LEGO set with "no assembly required"!

Another interesting thing is that the set contains no instructions. No rules how to play chess. Now, I know most people already know how to play chess, including myself, but I think this set should have come with instructions anyway. Think about it. Here's a kid who's just opening his birthday/Christmas/whatever present and is eager to learn to play and - huh? - he has to Google instructions? Pity.

I love the figs. The Shadow Knights kick total butt. And surprisingly enough, I like the blue pawns. I might just keep them together like that.

Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I love this set.

10/10!
