I do own this castle... Why... because I am a collector and no other reason. (Plus I got it cheap last year) This castle took POOPs to an all new level. Juniorized is exactly what I thought of this castle. The release of 6091/6098 caused me to continue my dark age that started with the fright knights. I can only condone this mess of a design for the (too few) parts and the awesome figs it contains. The unique pieces are nice to have for MOCing. As has been mentioned the sail, window, and roof bricks are nice. It also has some nice accessories for your figs.

What exactly is that siege thing anyway? I was thinking a cannon and that just turned me off even more.

The only thing I can't figure out is if this castle or Morcia is worse. I have both currently built in my garage sitting right next to one another. They just sit there taunting me... They are almost too ugly to take apart. It hurts my brain just to think about it, they are out there waiting for me...

Design = 1
Parts = 6
Minifigs = 8
Overall = 5

Dale makes lots of good points. Esp regarding the figs. I love KKI figs! I can't get enough. That tapestry thing is neat too, makes a good ship sail. But the set design. ugh

I think morcia looks better front on though, has a nicer gateway

I would say that 10176 was a vast improvement to this design.
P.S. If you need help making MOCs, making posts, or don't know what to do next, please, let me know! I'm here to help! ;)

indeed it was!

But was 10176 a better design than 6090?

well I never actually owned leo's castle, but from what I've seen I don't like the set very much. As many have said the design is just terrible; too many colors in too many places, not to mention that it hardly functions as a castle.

I don't even like the parts that much, the stained glass is rather worthless imo- there are techniques that give much better look. I'm not a fan of the half tower pieces as well, hard to integrate with a moc.
The only really nice rare pieces are the 75 convex slopes.

I suppose the minifigs are cool, minifigs aren't a huge concern for me though.

If I had to give a number value- maybe 2or3 out of 10. The set did so many things wrong, its hard to find whats good about it.

Even for a kid I think it would be disappointing to build, from the looks of it the construction would take all of 10 minutes. - I remember building the black seas barracuda as a kid, it was tough and took awhile but it was really rewarding to see the finished ship.

6090 was a very nice castle- probably the last good medieval castle lego made. I think it was also the biggest? It does mark the beginning of the BURP era though :(

Hey,

Just saw a rerun of the Malcolm in the Middle episode where Dewey builds a huge city of LEGO and other toys in the living room. At one point Hal sits down on the couch and King Leo's Castle is right beside him.

I thought I should mention that many of the other sets available in the Knight's Kingdom 1 (2000) range were designed to be compatable and connectable with the main castle set reviewed here. I found that most of the smaller sets could be swapped out and dropped in for variety with the modular construction patterns. Particularly useful sets as add-on castle wall and towers were 6094 Guarded Treasury, 4811 Defence Archer and 4817 Dungeon.

This theme more than any other Castle theme encouraged me to begin MOC building; mostly becasue I found these sets to have a "just the begining" sort of feeling to them.

Terrible design! :twisted: Towers, and the most design looks odd. I like figs of KK1 very much, but what a pity... There's only few. Accessories are nice, and some pieces.

Meh.... It's big, It's got parts, but the wrong ones. I've traded my big ugly wall pieces for black prefab wall pieces. I haven't got a copy.
the jury decides:
Design: juniorized. 6/10
parts: big and ugly, though some are good. 6.5/10
figs: good figs and accesories. I am counting the canno. 7.5/10
overall: 7/10.
