Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 8799 Knight's Castle Wall.

Knight's Castle Wall was released in 2004 for Knight's Kingdom II. This castle wall section has two large entrance doors underneath a tower. A cauldron with rocks can be poured onto invaders. Jayco, Santis, Rascus, and various accessories are included.

actually this is one of the few KK2 sets I like. It kinda reminded me of some of the older sets(not sure why :? ). It had the cool doors and 3 knights(if you can call ethem that  ) I got it in the 2 pack with the vladeks atack tower so maybe thats what made it seem cool.

I bought alot of this set, my first KK2 set too. The cheapest source of jellybeans, the golden disk and huge doors are useful.

I got this set for christmas with it paired up with Vladek's seige tower. Both a good sets, mainly because there very similar to an older set.

A good source of minfigs, I would ahve prefered it if the attackers outnumbered the defenders though. I would have prefered it even more with generic soldiers.

It has a great design, if you count premolded walls well designed.

7/10

I got this along with the siege tower. It's a decent wall, but not much else. Cheapest set with Rascus in it. Black doors are a bonus. Also good if you want to build up on your new grays (which I do). If not, there's not much there.

Parts: 6/10
Playability: 5/10
Figs/Accessories: 6/10
Design (then): 5/10
Design (now): 7/10
Nostalgia: 3/10

I don't like it as a Lego set. It's just a wall, nothing else. I don't like these silly coloured knights, so I wouldn't get it for minifigs.
I suppose the wall sections; the large gates and other parts make it quite valuable for brick fodder.
The playability is not great, there is just a wall, and there is nothing to play with.
Overall,
Parts: 8/10
Playability: 3/10
Figs/Accessories: 3/10
Design: 2/10
Nostalgia: 0/10
So for me, this set crumbles in shame.

The best set of the original KK2 line by far.

Why?

Because it harkened back to LEGO's older days. Anybody remember this set?

If Knight's Castle Wall had come with a small siege weapon and an extra figure or two.. it would have been the spitting image of 6059 Knight's Stronghold. Different style and colour, obviously.. but very similar.

So I think it was a good set. Another bonus is that you get three of the figures in a pretty cheap set. Whether you like them or not -- the KK2 guys are pretty good for customizing, and Rascus looks pretty good right out of the box.

I'd give this set a 7 or 8 out of 10. This set would be a perfect 10 if it came with a Scorpion Knight and a small catapult or ballista, or something.

I am also a fan of this set - it has a lot of decent mid-to-small size pieces for building, and the wall is not all that bad... buy two or three of them and you can start building an actual defense for Morcia's castle. ;-)

I like the oil pot too, I hadn't see that since the Fright Knights... it was a good addition.

That's true; the last one I've seen was in the bat lord's castle.
As I've said, this set is good for enhancing and improving other sets. This means that it itself isn't good, and you can't be a fan of it  . A slight contradiction.

I didn't bother with this set. The Jellybean Knights don't really add anything to the set, and I'd rather save up and get Vladek's castle or Vikings. The set itself is okay, I just didn't have a real use for it. 6/10, but I won't argue with a 7/10.

Actually, this set came as a two pack, as shown here, with a siege tower that had two enemies with it, thus the "dream" you described above is actually reality. 8)

Review coming soon...

Yeah, but you can buy them separately as well. And in my opinion, the siege tower with Vladek and Scorpion Knight caused an unnecessary jump in the price.

In other words.. this set is pretty good but would be better if it -came with- a small siege weapon and a baddie. But the two-pack isn't what I mean (since the Vladek portion is big enough to qualify as its own set).
