Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 970661 Skeleton and Ghost (for Amusement Park Set).

Skeleton and Ghost (for Amusement Park Set) was released in 2002. This Dacta set is a supplemental pack for the educational Amusement Park Set. It contains more skeletons and ghosts than any other set.

LOL! What a great set to review. To me it is the alternate models that really make this set. :)

You know, I never knew this set existed and it looks like no other sites know about it either. Good find, Ben. But I'm mad at you because now I want it. Not that I need more skeletons or ghosts, I just want it. :)

My favorite alternate model is the pile of bones. But the sheets on a clothesline is good too. ;)

Wow what a choice. I can see all the possibilites now as they come gushing into my mind. Wait...there are only several fig parts...

It would be a great fig pack if I was really into skeletons and ghosts. I think it would have been better had they provided the blank fig for inside the shroud though, rather than just the skeleton.

I've never even heard of this set though, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Eh...

Back in my day, we had to get all of our ghosts and skeletons the hard way! Blood, sweat and Brickbay! Err... Link.

That's how I got all 107 of dem skeletons for my gall dern story!

Darn kids and all their crazy ideas.

Get off my lawn!

This set was once a decent source of income and free parts for me.

I would order a bunch of these for $7. ($8 after shipping) Then, I would list all 10 ghosts on bricklink for $0.70 each, and a three of the skeletons for $1 each. It would all sell very quickly, and I would finish with $10 and 7 skeletons for each $8 investment.

Ultimately, Precious Princess Palace decided to rain on my parade, and listed thousands of ghosts for less than my price. I didn't want to be stuck with dozens of ghosts, so I lowered my price. Sold a few more. PPP lowered their price, I lowered my price, and PPP lowered theirs again. I decided it was not worth lowering the price anymore and gave up that fight.

Thus, my telling of the undead wars is complete.

It's a decent parts pack, and the price is right. Aside from battling with other bricklink sellers, the playability is pretty low on it's own. However, it would be great for building an undead army.

This was actually a real set!?!? I dont ever remember seeing it in my whole history of lego. The set would be fantastic if you were building a skeleton army [which I am]. It seems miraculous that lego released something like this, normally they go so sparingly on there minifigs.

There are a lot of sets that the general public never sees, like this one, that are sold through LEGO's educational wing, LEGO Dacta. Anyone can order from Dacta, but because it's supposed to be for educational purposes, its not advertized. LEGO Dacta for many years has been the source of new LEGO Technic parts that were otherwise unavailable.

So how many arms do you get in this set? 30?

I never about this either. Does it come with just the ghost shroud? This would have been an ideal set review about 3 weeks ago <:^)

What a strange set. I could see a use for ten skeletons, but not so many ghosts.

How are these educational? Oh well.

That looks like a great set to have, but what are you supposed to do with the ghost shrouds? Tie them to a string and hang them up for Halloween?

I haven't been participating in the set reviews since I don't own any of the reviewed sets. But apparently, nobody owns this, so I'll comment. It'd be very nice to have if you wanted to build an undead army, and you could use the ghost shrouds for an army of wraiths, or sea-creatures, or possibly make them into glow in the dark clothing for a giant.

So all skeletons come with three arms? I wasn't sure if it was just the one I own or not.

Great set to use for a haunted/abandoned castle. I wish LEGO re-released this set and made others like it.
