Yeast Elevator/Tower in Five

Post by kelderic »

Greetings!

Recently in my Biotech class, I was assigned a project in which we had to design a device which would capture the energy produced by yeast in the form of the increase pressure caused by the yeast forming CO2. Two of my classmates my yeast cars, and one made a yeast boat. I made a yeast elevator out of Legos. It uses hydrolics with to syringes to move the elevator up. At the same time, I was trying to make a tower usingonly odd numbers, mainly 5x5 and 7x7. So, I combined the two. I present the Yeast Elevator/Tower in Five.

Overall Shot (Pretty bad picture quality, sorry)

Bottom Syringe (Where the yeast solution goes)

The elevator itself.

Interesting patern created by 1x3 arches.

Interesting use of lego!
Now a couple of minifigs will make it look more like a MOC :)

Always a great idea to combine hobbies with (school) work :) But I do agree that it needs a few extra details, especially minifigs - but at the same time I totally understand why you left them out ;)

Very Cool. I agree with Darkspawn. Interesting to combine hobbies with Legos.

I really like the idea. Now if only LEGO would make something like that.

Well let's think, would you actulay buy a lego yeast elevator? And just because you would I don't think I know many children who would choose yeast elevators over even something so hidious as bionicle. But anyway good job on this project.

Unfortunately, the teacher said I could not include minifigs. I'm not really sure why, but he is a slightly strange teacher.
