Truly, DARKspawn's stuff looks better in the good light. I personally don't really favor this one. It looks good, no doubt, but I don't really see where the clever techniques come in to play. It looks like he took all the different techniques and shmushed them into one creation. I know I may be hypocritical, especially compared to my building, but DARKspawn's stuff doesn't "click" for me. Some of the techniques are excellent, but this one just yells at me that your collection large and well organized.
Sorry if this offends you. I do enjoy some of your other stuff, especially your "not obvious" SNOT, like in your mini-floating-citadel, but your castle buildings... They look almost too perfect...

Cheers for the kudos all, & thanks for your honesty, Felix. I appreciate well thought out critisism. I guess I should have started a thread for this creation but I didn't really want to attract attention to myself... but I guess that didn't work
Needless to say I am constantly looking for ways to improve my building. Your critique about my SNOT is interesting, I would love to hear a more indepth appraisal. Perhaps if you could leave a note on my Flickr page linked above or MOCpages - as I said, I highly value critisism.
TBH, mish-mash aside (& I think it looks great, personally), I think this will compare favourably to the rest of the entries.
Cheers!

Wow, there are a lot of really nice creations here. I really like Maedhros's creation, it just oozes evil awesomeness. Also, good job on your second creation, Darkspawn, although I don't like the way that you tiled the inside of the crenalations, but left the tops with studs. Good luck to all contestants!

Looks like a broke the ice to criticize Aaron!
Anyway, I created a rough micro-scale castle and I'm going to test my new Canon camera on it... It has amazing zoom and supposedly good resolution. Let's see how this comes out! I'll just say it Takashi-ish. Well, at least to a extent.

this is a fantastic contest. the whole idea of microscale is such a grander challenge despite the teeny dimensions. You've inspired me to build to the point that I spent two whole weekends staying up til 2 just building, then another weekend trying to render it (yes, my entry will be virtual LEGO).
Hopefully I will get the pictures up and give you the link by the weekend.
right on. i'm feeling urges though to build another or maybe 2 more. yay for microscale!

BTW, excellent work all of you. And remember, there is still half a month left.

Well, here is my Entry
Rock Barren Keep. Once again, my pictures are not that great. It's ok; I'm really bad at Micro Scale.

I can take criticism, constructive or not. But I like to have some feedback more then just "it's better then nothing." Why is it better then not trying? What is bad about it? Good about it? I personally believe that my camera skills greatly reduces the overall quality of the creation. I liked trying out the half plate window technique that Ben posted on when he was talking about his other new technique. Well, I really don't want to flame or be mean or make it look like I am just a jerk who will hand out criticism to great builders and can't take it himself.

hope you didn't misunderstand my point is its not how bad a job a person does the fact they even tried gives them credit, seriously have you seen my microscale model?its well below par,and was never meant to be a microscale model, but a diorama model for a large minifig scale size castle i'm making.Lord Felix wrote::evil: :evil:Asterios wrote:[(you)]well its better then not trying.[/(you)]Lord Felix wrote:Well, here is my Entry

I did get your point; but the way you put it above was just offensive to me. I am not angry at you, I was just upset by the way it was said.Asterios wrote: hope you didn't misunderstand my point is its not how bad a job a person does the fact they even tried gives them credit, seriously have you seen my microscale model?its well below par,and was never meant to be a microscale model, but a diorama model for a large minifig scale size castle i'm making.
About your creation:
It's fine. Tons better then my first attempt at Micro Scale. It's plain but, you know what, plain can be good in some circumstances. I would add some details; especially around the top wall walks. The walls themselves look pretty good as-is.
Oh, and do you first build a micro scale like this then build a bigger version that would be minifig scaled? That actually sounds like a good idea!

Congratulations! Your post has won "Worst Post Ever", and will forever be used to train future generations on how not to comment on a MOC.
