The CC Team is proud to announce our fifth annual building contest: The Colossal Castle Contest V. It will begin on November 1st and end on December 31st, 2007.

This contest is a bit different than other contests. We have a variety of categories each with one prize for the winner. Some categories require small creations and others need larger ones. Everyone, even with a limited supply of bricks, should be able to enter several categories. We are looking for creativity, not who has the most LEGO.

Rules: http://www.classic-castle.com/events/co ... ntest.html

Seven Classic Castle sets including the famed Knight's Challenge and Dark Forest Fortress are prizes. There are are also rare accessories, custom farm animals, and new castle sets. It truly is colossal!

Prizes: http://www.classic-castle.com/events/co ... rizes.html

Thank you to LEGO, Brickforge, Rich Stehnach, and Ben Ellermann for donating prizes. The rules can be found here. Enjoy!

Notes: We are working on setting up the database for submitting entries and hope to have that operational by Thursday. The "Submit an Entry" and "Entries" links will not work until that time.

The prizes for this contest just keep getting better and better each year, and the Classic-Castle Admins deserve a big "thank you" for sponsoring this contest.

Good luck to all contestants!

how exciting! way to encourage people to build. what neat categories too, they're already inspiring me. I guess the next couple of weekends are booked for me!

it seems to me that the list of rules is pretty short, making for wide-open possibilities. Am I correct in saying that there's no limit on the number of pieces as long as it fits into the specified baseplates? Also there's no clause regarding intellectual property --- so can I take inspiration from paintings, drawings, and films?

Alrighty, everything else is now going on hold. I entered one catagory last year. Hopefully I will be able to enter more this year.

You are welcome.

While there is not a piece or fig limit on entries, please take note that usually the largest creations entered into a category did not win in previous years. Very detailed creations usually win. We are not looking for a tower that is as tall as a person.

Inspiration can be drawn from different sources. The Historic Event category should be inspired by actual events and the medieval legend from actual medieval legends. Please give us a brief description on your entry of what you are building. On the other hand if someone builds yet another Helms Deep, Minas Tirith or Hobbiton moc, they will likely not win

That is an error in the page. The 6039 Twin Arm Launcher is used, in very good condition, and not donated by the LEGO Group.

Does this legend have to be globally known, or can it be a local thing?(given that I describe the situation/tell the tale)

I hadn't realized there was a maximum size for the entries... Guess my viking village won't be entered... :D

I've got a question about the farm entry... Does it need to have farmers and house and vehicles and tools and crops and animals? Or just some of those elements?

Great categories (and prizes) this year...

I suppose I'll enter (although I'm not sure which categories), as long as I have the time.
*Sigh*, it seems like contests always take place when I don't have the time or I'm just left inspirationless.
Plus, my best MOCs come when I'm just messing around, not when I have a specific set of guidelines.

I should have time to participate this year. Thanks to everybody that has made this event possible!

A curiosity: Shouldn't the Historic Event category be demarcated to a certain point in time?

I assume the Castle Spaces entries must be built on two plates of 32x32 size or smaller?
