I was wondering for the Farm Category if I could make more of a garden? It'll have caretakers and stuff, but I don't want to give much else away so no one takes my idea. If not, I'll just make it for the Misc. Category.

Yes, two pages ago You can have mocs larger than the baseplate standard for the miscellaneous category. This category is for castle mocs that do not fit into the other categories.

Small strips of land were often farmed in the middle ages. You should be growing something edible

Custom torso stickers are allowed in any category. Custom elements are only allowed in legends and misc.

Every year we do allow "ninja" style creations as long as firearms are not used.

This is hopefully my last question. I don't think I saw it earlier, but for the celebrations category... does it have to be something that actually existed, or could it be a made up ceremony? Like something that would be celebrated only by wacky tribes of people.

edit: Also, are Brickforge accessories considered custom elements? Or can you use them like regular pieces?

I think the answer is yes, but a mod should clarify this. The guidelines say the creation must be able to fit on two 32x32 baseplates or smaller, or on a single 48x48 sized baseplate (I don't think that means it HAS to be on a baseplate, but that it should fit within these dimensions).

Furthermore, the Castle Spaces category requires you to build at least two connecting castle spaces, which suggests you might be building on several baseplates, perhaps a few 16x16 spaces, and the entry would be valid so long as it adds up under the 2 32x32 size limit, so the 48x48 doesn't really apply to this category, if I am interpreting the rules correctly.

The spirit of the competition is more about quality than quantity, so I don't see why you couldn't build using smaller baseplates...

I got the idea. I will just build a farmer growing something to feed something and sleeping in some building. Gush, although I am building every day I am still to slow, trying to finish everything I have in mind before my son is born end of November. tick, tick, tick....

any guess when the submission page will be fixed? i've got two entries ready and a third on the way

Does this rule apply to mainland Europe as well? Firearms were quite common by the late sixteenth century. For example, would a mounted Cuirassier complete with wheellock pistol be an acceptable figure. This could be significant for persons considering the late middle ages for their historical submissions.

I guess it's up to the mods, but if you can find decent citation for a particular technology and it fits for the category you are entering...

The Chinese and Japanese did use some crude firearms as well.. I think the ruling has more to do with style than actual dates here. Firearms aren't allowed simply because they aren't part of "Classic Castle", no matter how much they were or weren't used during this timeperiod..

LOL! I'd just ignore this thread and build. The purpose of the CCC is to have fun and encourage building in the castle theme, not to have lawyers haggle over ever detail (no offense, Athos, and any other lawyers in the forum).
