Size of Armies

I don't get it.

They're called Army Builders. I think its a combination addiction, competition, and neurosis. I've teetered on the brink myself. Instead I now collect rare and non-production pieces that cost too much and don't fit in MOCs very well. It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but its fun. That's all I can say.

I think you have it perfect there. There is not logic at that point just Lego...

I find that over 100 would just be too hard to manage so I break them up but I am sure others are fine with it and thats ok. I just do not like leaving huge block formations of lego men sat there in attention all the time.

If I had 1000 I would try to make a big scene with them. Because then they would be standing there but they would look awesome at the same time.

Just out of curiosity, why does one need that many minifigures? I mean, I understand a hundred or so for an army, you could make a scene with them. But thousands?? I think it's a little excessive. What is the logic behind collecting that much? I don't get it.

Not a 'need', just a want. It isn't a 'little' excessive - it is extremely excessive. Logic? I am grown man, married with kids and a doctor - I play with plastic bricks in my spare time, where does any logic come in here? "I don't get it" - that was apparent from the moment you asked the question If you have to ask...

Sounds about right to me - I am sure there is a category in the DSM-IVTR that covers this. If not, then the substance abuse would likely fit just fine ; again, this man gets it.

Well I live currently in Israel, but the main bulk of my collection is in Budapest. Being that Budapest and Israel over price LEGO, Ive resorted to ordering off of S@H and sending it to my home in California, so it breaks down like this:

I have only Castle sets bought from Budapest with me and a bag of minifigs and accessories I have 30 Crown Knights, 21 Skellies. In California I have as of yet unopened sets bought from S@H, which equals out to:: 24 Crown Knights, and 2 Kings, 24 Skellies 2 Warlocks, and 4 Dragons, 4 Dwarves, and 8 Trolls.

Basically with me I have:: 4x Final Joust 7009, 4x Crossbow Attack 7090, 5x Catapult Defence 7091, 1x Skeleton Prison Wagon/Carriage, 4x Knight Impulse 5615, 2x Wizard Impulse 5616
And back home in California:: 2x Kings Castle Siege 7094, 2x Skeleton Tower 7093, 2x Final Joust 7009 4x Dwarven Mine Defender 7040, 2x Knights Battle Pack and 2x Skeletons Battle Pack.

I think my Romans are the largest at about 350. I have about 20 factions in the 50-150 fig range. But I haven't conducted a "census" since I moved into my house, so 6-7 years. I'll try to get around to it this summer.

And Lee--you got it brother! It's about emotion, not logic. One could argue the entire hobby (or all hobbies for that matter) is illogical. I hope to see you in Seattle this October. maybe we should have another large-scale battle like we did here in Portland last year...

But I do have around 1,100 in the Ancient Era Chinese army (green)
300 heavy armored infantry
500 light infantry
200 archers (crossbow)
100 cavalry

And around 1,400 in the Medieval Era Chinese army (red)
300 heavy armored infantry
500 light infantry
200 archers (Chu Ko Nu)
200 firelancers
100 specialist infantry (Changdao)
100 cavalry

I also have Ancient Era Persians based on the Medes, and Medieval Era Persians based upon the Sassanids. They're my 2nd largest faction overall.

I have about 30 Battle Droids, and somewhere around 25 of Crownies and Skellies. It's close, but the droids have guns, and guns will always triumph over plate armor until they make armor that can defllect munitions.

MTT+Castle Chess set= very mixed Lego forces.

It depends on the guns and the plate armor. If your battle droids have blasters/lasers and the knights have plate armor with a mirror polish, the armor just might reflect the lasers back at the droids. It could happen.
