Yet again it is mid-September, and hopefully some of you will know what that means, if not, check here out: MCC I, MCC II, MCC III. But that aside, it is time for the...

The Mini Castle Contest IV

Create a smaller than minifig scale castle MOC.

Now with a special category, Mini Movement!

For Mini Moc inspiration and examples, check out Bruce's Microbricks.

Rules:

1. The creation must be castle based. By this I mean pretty much anything that was around in medieval times.

2. The creation can be Ninja and/or Ancient times and/or Viking.

3. The creation's base size cannot exceed 32x32 studs.

4. There is no piece or height restriction.

5. You may use customized pieces, but not pieces from any clone brands.

6. You may enter as many entries as you want, but try to go for quality as opposed to quantity.

7. You may not enter creations entered in any other contest, past or present.

Mini Movement:

This year I have decided to do something a bit different and made a special category, complete with its own prize(TBA). Build a miniature creation that moves, it can be anything, a Dragon, a ship, a wagon, a mine cart, whatever you want, so long as it is a model of something that moves. Note: The actual creation does not have to have any moving parts or such, it just needs to be a model of something that would move. Same rules apply here as with the main contest.

Deadline:

The deadline for entries is midnight (CC server time), October 31st. This contest ends just as the CCC VI starts.

Prizes:

1st: 7979 LEGO® Castle Advent Calendar

2nd: 5618 Troll Warrior

3rd: 852194 Dwarf Key Chain

Mini Movement: 5614 The Good Wizard

Judging:

I, and an as yet unnamed CC member will be judging.

Pictures:

You may submit as many pictures for your entry as you want. But please, keep them under 1024x768 pixels. And if you post a picture in this thread, please keep them under 400x300.

*You may submit entries by replying to this thread.

If you have questions, please ask and I will try to answer ASAP.

Best of luck to everybody this year.

Sweet, I will for sure enter. Thanks a whole lot for hosting this contest :D

That special category sounds neat, just one question about it,

When you mean move do you mean motor, string or just move like wings or wheels? And it's in mini scale an goes in a scene on a 32x32 baseplate or smaller? :?

Thanks

Now, what to do...mmm, I think I might....Hey I'm not telling you guys what I'm making!

I guess I wasn't quite clear in the description of that category. I've done my best to fix it. What I mean by movement is that if the thing was real, like if the dragon actually flew around and blew fire, then it would count as movement. Like a castle, whether it's just made out of a few Lego bricks, or is the real Tower of London, it would still remain perfectly still. For something to be eligable for the movement category, it must be able to move, if it were real. The actual MOC doesn't have to move, or even be bendable, it just needs to be a model of something that can move. Make sense? Oh, and yes it needs to fit within the 32x32 base size, but it does not necessarily have to be on a baseplate.

Sweet stuff! I'll probably only be able to build after BrickCon, but I will try to enter!

In Christ,
Ah, but if you build before, or during BrickCon, I'd be able to see it in person, and perhaps give it a better evaluation. :)

Sounds great! I'm really looking forward to entering- I don't think i've ever built anything microscale before.

Few questions though!

1/ Are we allowed to use SNOT for the bases- will this be fine as long as we stay in the 32x32 limit?

2/ Regarding Mini Movement I think i've got it, but a little clarification would be grand, e.g Windmills though stationary do move in some sense.
And what about waterfalls?

Okay, I kid on the latter but I am interested in your stance regarding the former example.

Absolutely, so long as it still is within the size limit, have at 'er.

Hmmm, interesting question, going to need to think on that. (Insert long thinking session) I think we'll say no here. What I hope for the Movement category is to have the creation....well, able to leave it's current location, i.e. the wagon can move on down the road, the horse can leave it's little spot of field, etc. This is not to say though, that the creation can't have more than the actual moving thing. Like, if you choose to build a ship say, you are allowed to build water, and a cliff, and whatnot. So long as the main focus of the MOC is the moving thing. Make more sense? If not please say so, this whole special category is a bit of test, next year we'll probably have something else, or no special category at all. We shall see.

Hey Robin Hood!
Thanks for hosting this,
I have just one question, do you want us to post the entries in this topic, or will there be another one for us to post in?
