Hello!




When Luther was summoned to the Reichstag (diet) of Worms, his sovereign prince obtained from the Emperor free passage for him. The man knew why he was doing this. At this diet the Emperor, as expected, imposed the Ban of the Empire upon Luther. Thus he was oulawed, and everybody was free to kill him whenever they got hold of him. This way Church and Emperor hoped to get rid of him once and for all.
And, as fate demanded, on his journey home Luther was attacked by a mob of highwaymen, as it seemed, and abducted to Wartburg Castle.

Frederick the Wise, Elector of Saxony, found himself in a difficult situation. Being a subject to his emperor he certainly could not officially an outlaw, on the other side however, he was prepared to patronize his ablest theologian. So he ordered his own men to obduct Luther, lest anybody else was doing this.


And yes, this is a mini version of Wartburg Castle.

As a Catholic attending a Lutheran college, I've, uh... built up something of a reputation (only partially deserved) of being a virulent contra-Lutheran, so I'd never admit this there, but I got all giddy seeing that you had resumed your Reformation Day tradition, Jojo. This creation, as always, is both accurate-seeming in its portrayal of a historical event and a finely constructed, aesthetically pleasing MOC.

I can't. Its dimensions are larger than 32 studs.

I was remiss in noting that I was also really happy to see you resume this tradition. I was afraid you'd run out of events from Luther's life that would make good MOCs. I looked up the real castle and this is a very faithful rendition. Good work.

Great work as usual.

I really like your use of forced perspective to create a dramatic landscape. In particular, I like the way that you've used the cart and soldiers to separate the foreground from the midground and the pine trees to again create a linear division between the midground and the background. The end result is quite striking. Moreover, the excellent micro-scale model of Wartburg Castle is really something to behold.

Your Luthren series of MOCs has always been a favourite of mine and this great MOC is certainly keeping with that tradition.

It`s fantastic mini castle, and the whole story is build on fantastic level.

I only ask you why you build so rare lately?

Hey Jojo, great to see a MOC from you again. I love the tradition of Reformation Day MOCs that you started. I was going to make one myself, but I'm not in the same place as my LEGO right now.

And Bruce, speaking as one who has read several biographies of Luther, there's no shortage of pretty interesting events in his life that are MOCable (if that's a word)!

Brilliant to see one of my faviourite traditions resumed! Some stunning work in what I believe is a new scale for you? I always enjoy MOCs that capture the caricature of a building/scene in preference to the details.

Great effect Jojo. I really like the shot of the mini scale castle as background scenery! Also the mini scale castle looks really nice.

This is very pleasing to the eye, nicely done. I like the use of the small pine trees as big pine trees. It's also nice to see the history of Luther in bricks once again. Great job.
