A few questions regarding the rules:
-Can we digitally edit out supports (that would be trans-clear otherwise)?
-Is overlap over the baseplate allowed? If so, how much?
-Regarding the Tapestry category, what exactly does this mean? Can it be a series of minifigs put in front of a wall (crude example), or does it mean a larger scale, with the scenes made out of plates/tiles, much like a mosaic?
-Have you actually got the Medieval Market Village yet? Or is it currently "unacquired"?
In the future please type your new questions in another post. This thread will get lengthy and I will not always read the old posts to look for edits. Thanks ;)

Photo editing of backgrounds is allowed but you should keep the trans clear supports.

Please clarify what you mean by baseplate overlap.

The tapestry should be built in a mosaic style with bricks, plates, and tiles. It can use snot, but should be 2D and not 3D.

Prizes donated by LEGO are typically held by the company until they are awarded after the contest.

By overlap I mean are we allowed to start with an 8x8 base, build it up, and the have plates going off more tha the 8x8 studs.

Just one question -

Is it okay to have a Castle-ified scene from, say, Star Wars as a vignette entry?

No.

No. This is a castle contest. Creations from other themes such as Star Wars are best left for different fan contests.

Hey Architect, you haven't answered my questions on the bottom of pg 2.

Did you miss them? Here they are:
I'm so sorry I have to bug you again, but can I host pics on Flickr? And can I take more then 3 pics, but just post the 3 when I send in my entry or show it off here? Thanks for your time!

EDIT: Oh and can other fantasy creatures/characters besides dragons be featured?

You can host your images on Flickr. Make two separate folders. One will hold the 3 images for the contest. Another with all of the images can be linked to in the forums when you create a thread about your moc.

Yes. You can have fantasy creatures other than dragons if they work well in that category. An example is a scene with a unicorn in the tapestry category.

I have a question about the Castle category.
The minimum size of a castle should be 32x32 studs.
By castle do you mean "the building and it's belongings" or do you mean the "main castle building". Or the entire moc including surroundings?

And by "interior buildings" do you mean there have to be buildings inside a castle wall?
There are a lot of castles that do not have that kind of walls (we have a lot of water castles over here) and a lot of times these buildings are outside the courtyard.

If the question is "build a castle, including a castlewall with buildings inside" it's ok, I just wanted to make sure :)

The entire moc and surroundings should be at least 32x32 studs. You can include various "out buildings" attached to the outside of the castle wall instead of the inside courtyard.

I have a question about the tapestry:

Does it have to be completely flat 2D, or can it have some depth. If I make a tapestry with studs up, can I add tiles to the studs to give it some depth? I do not want to make it 3D, but I would like to give it some a one or two tile depth, is that ok?

Thanks in advance

I don't think there was a size restriction in the castle category in CCCIII, won by Jacob.
Garbageman13 wrote: Second, is it possible to win at the Custom Fig catagory if I use NO custom parts? Sounds impossible, but I think I may do it just for fun!
As Ben noted, you are probably less likely to win, as we have some members who are real masters with the paintbrush, sculpy, exacto-knife, etc (see past winners for examples). However, people such as Michael, Martin and Andrew have shown that you can do really great things just by using existing LEGO elements in clever ways.

BTW, I also wanted to thank all of those who donated prizes. Also all of you who will participate in the CCC this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Every year it seems we get a new pleasant surprise, like a builder who comes out of nowhere and blows us away, or some really clever building techniques, etc, not to mention the growing popularity of the castle theme across the Legoverse. Let the games begin!

Thanks for your answers fellas!
While we were on the subject of custom figs, what if my decals don't turn out super well, since I don't have a great printer? Will I get points off or something of that sort?

I plan to try and use decals now, since that would increase my chances of winning. I want to use water-slide decals if possible aswell, I'm just not sure how well it will turn out, because I've never attempted it before...

Is your question really "will someone who does a good job of applying decals fare better than someone who does a poor job?"? I think the answer to that should be obvious. I'd suggest doing some practice runs using torsos that you don't care too much about. Earlier you asked about the level of detail. You might note that the newer figs from LEGO are more detailed than older figs. E.g.
Image vs Image
and discussion of the new upcoming figs (this thread). There was a thread discussing this in relation to the crown princess, but I can't find it right now. Anyway, the takehome is that there is a real evolution in minifig detail from LEGO. That said, you might also see examples on-line where people make very detailed decals and then when they are shrunk down to actual size they look too crowded. I'd say the key is to use the exact amount of detail you need and no more. I'll let you work that one out for yourself.

Hi,

My first time here, I registered to join this CCC...
First of all: I like the categories and the prices, they are just great! I've got a question too:
Can you tell a story with the 3 pictures? Not like a cartoon: just one scene, but with 'moving' figs? Hmm...
My English isn't that good, I hope you understand. :)

Gee wiz no! I meant it in a different way! Sorry for being so vague.

Let's say I make a awesome decal that would win a contest.
Let's say my prints turn out grainy or rather faded due to my printer.(And I cannot afford a new printer at the current moment.)This is not due to the ink cartridges or the printer's settings, but rather due to the printer itself being too old, or just not a super-detailed awesome printing machine like Kamionian probably uses!

So basicly applying has nothing to do with it, I meant printing.

Do you get what I'm saying? Sorry for being so vague. :(

Yes! I just want to express my excitement about CCC finally having arrived! I really enjoyed last year and CCC did cause quite the building spree on my part, I hope to perform this well again or better this year, I am definitely going to try!
