Vladeks Cliff Manor

I know, I'm a recent masterbuilder. Last year I don't participated because of the nonwritten rule a masterbuilder don't enters in the year after winning. It was horrible for me. I like this contest very much and the competition with other builders at the last two months of every year.

So this year I couldn't stand and entered:

Vladek thought about might and mastery. Every day he thought about might and mastery. But everyday he was disturbed by another guy. It is defenitly an other guy, because the last molester he let heading.
But since a few months it is finished! His new manor at the cliffs of Ankoria. He only needs a name for this building. After days of more thinking he got it: "Vladek's cliff manor".

This will be his new refuge to relax from all his stressing transactions to get the kingdom of Morcia under control.

I don't even know where to start.....there are just so many neat little things going on here. It's nice to see Vladek get some run, his portion of that theme showed some great promise.
The chains hanging all over this really give it a sense of evil and a lot of visual interests. They pull your eye all over as if to show you where to look next. The little cage is a funny touch and so is the 'landing platform'! At first I thought it was more like a giant birds nest but it's more like Landing platform 327. Hilarious! Very well suited for a three headed beastie such as this. Well done.

This was my intension. I tried to put an "D" (of course for Dragon) as pattern in the nest, but you must have much fantasy to recognize this, so I don't take a extra shot of it.

I collected some further infos:
  • • I start building at 16.11.2008 and finished it at 31.12.2008
    • Buildingtime in this period was 60 h 37 min
    • The highest flag ends at 75 cm.
    • The whole MOC expand on 2 x 3 32er baseplates
    • The Drawbridge is full functional aswell the portcullis
    • The crane has a winch for each boom, so you can lift goods and treat prisoners independently of each other
    • The gem-machine-thingy has a wheel you can spin to change the angular of the leaning

Incredible, Jens. I really love the landscaping, especially how the rock pillars get wider towards the top. The footprint of the castle is also very interesting. THe minifig action & the dragon are the icing on the cake. Well done, as always, Jens!

Hmm. It's normaly not my way to push threads. But hey guy's, I build a castle, and only 5 people (including Lord Sava) wrote some kind words or criticism.

Ok, it don't won a price or a honorable mention at the CCC, but is it really so bad? Or was it the wrong time to go public with it?

Sorry, I just now noticed it  , and I think it looks really good. I think it would be cool to see maybe the Good king's cliff manor from the crownies in this form :)

I'd love to see the Jelly Bean Knights try and assault this fortress.

Beautiful work, I love it.

Dano,

I bet the jelly's would use a giant wooden rabbit.

Jens,

That is very nice. It looks like the perfect place to hang out for a dark lord. The pet is a nice touch as well. Keeps robbers.... and most anyone out. How did you get three necks to attach?

Don't worry. Everyone else is too gobsmacked to say anything. I think this is brilliant. The attention to detail is incredible. It looks exactly what I would expect Vladeks house to look like.

Heres hoping to see more of your work.

I wondered the same thing and saw how it was done. But since it's not my MOC, I'll leave it up to Jens to spill the secret. It's an awesome technique that I would never have thought of.

I like the entire thing. Very creative with a great attention to detail.

Wow great MOC.

A ton of details I love. One in particular is the use of that giant axe head for the giant troll. I have a couple of these from the Gargoyle Bridge. I remeber thinking how lame I thought they were when building that set. I threw them in a bin of other bionicley stuff that I thought I'd never use when I dissassembled that set. That's the sort of thing that keeps me in awe of some other builders, such as yourself. Finding uses for pieces I thought were worthless (although in retrospect a giant axe head for a giant troll seems kind of obvious).

One question though, what are the red claws on the base of the cliff wall by the dock supposed to be?
