Hrothingas Castle - Castle Evolution - Stage 1

This is the first stage of my castle. It will evolve into a bigger stone castle in the next stages.

This wooden castle could have existed around 950 AC.

Wow *is speechless*. Another absolutely fantastic castle you've come up with DNL. I love the landscaping. I'm not up to a detailed review (too tired/out of practice); but I wish I could say more. It's amazing.

And the name is really cool too.

Edit: I also looked at every picture closely, which is rare for me.
Learning French.

Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".

Wow indeed.. I cannot stress enough my love for the scenery in this creation. I do not have enough scenery related bricks or skill with such creations, and likewise am always amazed when a MOC handles such details with exceptional grace. Nicely done...

Exellent idea. BTW, the evolution of your landscape skills is remarkable.

I love the whole concept of you showing a castle's progression over the ages. Do you plan to build separate MOCs for each one, or do you not have unlimited parts...:) I'm guessing the latter, but for public display it would be really cool to see the stages. I guess your "public display" will probably be Flickr.
I like LEGO Stuff. I have a blog called BricksABillion, a webcomic called The Brick Side, and I do some freelance artwork at Duckingham. And I am sad that there are only 24 hours in a day.

Very nice! This is a great concept and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take it.

I really like it, I've been waiting for someone to do this for a long time. Really well don I might add.

I've got to echo everyone else here and say what an amazing job you've done here. I enjoy the tower quite a bit, to say nothing of the landscaping and choice of color palette.
Though I do wonder how you'll be doing the evolution of this baby, do you plan to show us the castle in another couple hundred years or do you plan to show the actual construction of the fort, like a shot for every year. Some minfig life, like the blacksmith on the roof, in shots showing the whole upgrade, while potentially time consuming, would be a real treat.
Either way I can't wait to see the next incarnation,

When I was a lad my mother told me that if I stood around all day with my mouth open a weasel was liable to mistake it for his den and jump right in. If you have something to say, say it, otherwise, beware of weasels.

If i would make one shot for every year i would have to make hundreds of shots  I will probably make four or more stages to show how the castle changes. I will probably have at least one stage where a part of the castle is under construction.

No i will update this MOC, since i don't have enough pieces to make a new landscape for every stage, and it would be boring to build the same landscape several times.

Hello!

That’s a nice idea and well done, too. Very well, to be exact. I like the landscaping and the human/minifigian devices growing into it very much.
