Hi,
Nice contest, one question is there a figure limit, so could i do a 2 person battle, or one guy and a load of people?

Thanks in advance,
N

You can post all the WIP pics you want. However, the gallery or set of pics that you submit for the contest can't have any WIP. The reason is that I don't want to have to try and figure out what is a finished pic and what isn't. Make sense?

No limit, either way. You can have one fig or 10,000 figs. You can have one fig fighting 10,000 figs. Whatever you want.

Before I go an do something I might regret later, I want to clarify what is acceptable custom pieces. What I need is a red forestman's cap. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Lego ever made one that color. So would painting them be acceptable?

Thanks for running this again, Josh. I have fond memories of building for this contest last year. As soon as finals are over the battle shall begin. :sly:

There will be a new category this year. There will be a special prize for the best vignette-sized (or smaller) battle scene. That means that all the battles with a footprint of 8x8 or smaller will be eligible for this special prize. The prize has been contributed by a very generous donor. Once I have the prize in hand (in a day or two), I will take pics and unveil it. Until then, you'll have to live with this teaser. ;)
Ooh, colour me intrigued. And grateful as we can't all afford to have huge armies

Yes, it does! I'll make sure only to enter the finished pics. I also have another question. will vigs be judged differently then bigger dioramas? I'm slightly curious.
If I'm not able to enter a bigger diorama, I may give the vig a try.

Thank you for your time, and God bless.

Does it have to be on a baseplate of some sort? Because I just got back into lego and before then I was into Technic, thus I never really collected any baseplates. I do however have a large castle scene I wish to enter, but its "floor" is the top of my computer desk.

Here it is, I am posting this in the entries thread but if it is not eligible I will delete it.

Probably legal because we're allowed to enter multiple entries, but we're allowed to do both categories as well, right?

I just want to say that the Vig Category is FANTASTIC. This greatly increases my options...

They will be judged exactly the same as the regular entries. Believable landscaping and fig posing.

Perfectly acceptable, but the lack of landscape will probably hurt its chances. Just so you are aware.

Well, only you are allowed to enter both categories, because I like you so much. Everyone else is out of luck! ;)

Just kidding. Yes, everyone is allowed to enter both categories...as many times as they feel the need to.

It greatly increased mine until you decided to enter.

Like I said i have a baseplated entry in the works, infact I just disassembled said castle to build it. So hopefully I'll have a decent chance with the 2nd one. Doubt I'll win anyway but oh well :P

Ah, yes :D I just get this big grin on my face whenever I see a Contest topic!

To clarify about the Vig Category, is there an maximum overlap rule? I'm not talking about putting a 48x48 baseplate on an 8x8 base, but about 5 studs out each way of tree/war machine, without expanding the base...?

You can. I won't disallow it. However, if its painfully obvious that they are the same scenery....it probably won't get rated as high by the judge.
Would this dent the chances of both entries, or just the later one?

Oh, and another question - can we edit out trans supports?
