The 32x32 Challenge 2009

Post by Ye Olde Republic »

Quickblade and I were mentioning to each other one night that we'd each like to 'tighten' our MOCs. I challenged him (and myself) to build a castle on a 32x32 baseplate. Josh gave me the green light to open it up to anyone else who would like to participate as well.

**This is not a contest and as such there are no prizes, nor is there a winner or losers.**

The challenge lays as such:
1. Build a castle for minifigs of which the base of it is on 32x32 studs worth of baseplate.
2. As this is a minifig creation, figs should be included.
3. Try and get it done before September 1. Use your own timezone.
4. Have fun.
5. Control your own action. If you don't think what you're building fall into the spirit of points 1, 2, 3 and 4 that's on you.

**EDIT**
Now that we have someone with something built, I thought it may be a good idea to collect the links to each of the threads here.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Sounds like fun, I should be able to give it a whirl. Any stipulations/requirements on the castle itself? (ie, must have gatehouse, must be a castle and not a tower, etc - I know it's all in fun, but just wondering)

I like this idea.

Sorry for what is probably a stupid question but when you say the base, does that mean the actual castle has to be 32x32 studs or just fit on a baseplate of those dimensions?
For Empire is no more, and now the Lion & Wolf shall cease.

Nanuck: See point number 5 for your answer. :D Remember, this is a challenge to get us (QB and myself) and now you guys to do something out of the norm. Always wanted to build a pink castle or a keep with lunar capabilities or watchtower on the surface of the sun? Now is your chance, nobody will judge you. ;)

Outcast: Yes. :D

Is a castle a fortified space to live in, in your eyes? Or are there more things there have to be in the moc?
Cool challenge by the way :D

When you say the base has to fit on a 32x32 plate, does that include landscape or just the structure of the castle? I'm working on a castle that will fit on the 32x32 plate, but when I add landscaping it will expand beyond that.

And, even if it is done by Sept. 1, I'm not sure I'll want to share it until a bit later..

But, since there aren't any prizes, I guess strict compliance with the rules is unnecessary, but I was curious. Maybe I'll share another qualifying creation that I haven't gotten around to photographing yet...

This sounds like a very cool idea, and I can't wait to see all of the entries :) .
