I really like the shape and the angles you've used for the tower- certainly better than a square big ol' bore. I like the tan bricks in the stonework too, though i'm sure plenty here will say otherwise.

I'm not fond of the SNOT base. It's incredibly artificial and devoid of any realism- a few med-blue bricks or ripples or waves would've been better if you had to go down this route. I think it's definitely the weakest aspect of the moc.

Cant wait to see your 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc mocs though. Welcome aboard! :)

I agree. The only time I've ever seen water that smooth is on the Gulf of Mexico once this summer. I do like the rest of the moc, however, and that small tower with the slanted sides is my favorite aspect.

I love the tan bricks, and the angling is superb! I like the SNOT base, it's a lot more creative than just a baseplate. I don't get what's the problem with the SNOT, I've seen a million MOcs with smooth SNOT water!

Exactly!

(sorry for the thread derailment- there's a good debate thread regarding SNOT here)

Very nice angles and mottling. THe SNOT water really frames the piece well. Very attractive build!

Very good first moc, I like the use of the lime green in the wall, because I always thought it was a useless color. The circular bit in the corner looks really nice. I can't wait to see more. (After all, who likes a lonely keep, Make it some friends. :D )

Its always nice to see a bit of colour in castles. I'm kinda sick of the typical grey.

And don't worry, the water doesn't bother me.

Nice work. By keeping everything off the standard layout you have gotten a very nice look to this MOC. I love the life and aging of the walls you have done, just like how they look near the sea. Nice work!

Very good for your first creation in 7 years. Like everyone else, I liked the angles and mottling too.

God bless.

I just love the mottling on this! At first glance I thought I wasn't going to like the green, but once I got the pictures opened a bit bigger I could see how well it actually worked, very well done. The little rotunda is well done, I especially like the look of the base of it where it enters the water. It looks truly sturdy enough to be anchored down there somehow. I do think the arrow slit windows would have been strategically better higher up as far as shooting arrows out goes, but I suppose you can do that out of any sized window. At least they would work to keep the bad guys in their rowboats out :) I love the little red flowers on the climbing greenery. I also love how you did the multiple sections at different angles with the rooms at the top back of the MOC.
