Colossal Castle Contest 7

Post by architect »

The CC Team is proud to announce our seventh annual building contest: The Colossal Castle Contest VII. It will begin on November 1st and end on December 31st, 2009.

This contest is a bit different than other contests. We have a variety of categories each with one prize for the winner. Some categories require small creations and others need larger ones. Everyone, even with a limited supply of bricks, should be able to enter several categories. We are looking for creativity, not who has the most LEGO.

Check out the prizes. Eight Classic Castle sets including the highly popular Armor Shop, Guarded Inn, and Knight's Castle are prizes. There are are also vintage misb sets, custom medieval weapons, and new castle sets. It truly is colossal!

Thank you to LEGO, BrickArms, Bluesecrets, Rich "Blackrock" Stehnach, and Ben Ellermann for donating prizes. The rules can be found
here. Enjoy!

Edit: Please see the following prize page with images as we work to update the contest prize page coding:

:D finally it's november 1st!
Thanks for having the contest!

I have a question about the castle category
Build a Castle that uses clay fired bricks as a major part of its architecture.
Do you mean these bricks with "clay fired bricks", or doesn't the size of them matter?

Looks great! I hope I can find time to enter this year.

BTW, do you have some LEGO examples of what would qualify for the brick category? Are you asking us to build replicas of real-world castles that use bricks?

That's my question too :) Does it have to be build out of 1x2 plates or not :o
Many European castles are build by bricks by the way, except for the english ones. If you look at Dutch castles, they're almost all build out of bricks.

There's a mistake in a Misc description. The prize is 4801, not 4081. ;)

Great! Very interesting categories you have here....

Set images are broken, if you use this link: http://www.classic-castle.com/events/cc ... est=cccvii
The old traditional link (http://classic-castle.com/events/contes ... rizes.html) works perfectly.

EDIT: Oh, I see you know this already!

EDIT2:
Create a medieval building that is not located in Western Europe.
Can you please define where Western Europe ends?

I will definitely participate again this year :D

I have a couple of questions:
1) Does the brick castle have to be a whole castle or can it also be a part of a castle like a gatehouse or a keep?
2)
This prize will be awarded to the builder who enters 6 or more categories and has the highest score when their top six creation scores are averaged.
Does this mean that if i build two entries for one category and five others for five other categories the two entries in the same category both count?

Yahoo! My favourite contest of the year! :D
Some very interesting categories this year; quite a change from previous ones, and some very nice prizes - thanks to those who donated them!

In the "Training a Knight" category, do all 3 scenes together have to fit within 48x48 or 32x64, or can they exceed that combined? Can they be a single scene, but modified between the 3 photos? Can they be built together as a larger scene (example)?

Edit: Wow, 12 Defense Archers!

Yahooo! It's so great waking up after Halloween to this! If it weren't for the CCC every year, there wouldn't be as many cool Castle Mocs on the net!

Thank you to the admins for hosting it! :D

God bless.

Been looking forward to this for a while, thanks for hosting this again and to everyone who has contributed to running this.

One quick question. For the training a knight scene, we are to build 3 separate scenes. Are we limited to 3 pictures per scene, or 3 pictures overall (ie, 1 picture per scene)? Just want to make sure.

Thanks again, looking forward to seeing all of the MOC's!
