Hmmm, the MOC I finished today doesn't quite apply for a situation like that. Thank you for the idea though! I will definitely keep it in mind for the future.

I have a minifig scale MOC in mind next, so I will just go with that now. :)

Couple of questions! Just want to cover my bases before I build anything. :)

-------------------------------

1) "Create a scene with a device that changed medieval warfare, commerce, construction, manufacturing, or exploration."
Is this something that has to be grounded in history and reality or can it be something more fantastical? Would dragon balloons or steampunk-esque stuff be alright or not? Basically, are crazy inventors and their creations allowed or not?

2) "Build a scene featuring life with the sea. Ideas include ships, seaports, lighthouses, etc."
Are rivers or waterfalls allowed or is this category designed with coastal creations more in mind? Do we have to build something near or int he sea or not? Would watermills be okay for instance?

3) "Show how an event at or near a religious building influenced daily life in medieval times. Ideas include a wedding, feast day, pilgrimage, funeral, or coronation at a church, cathedral, mosque, temple, or monastery."
Again, as with the first question, is this a category that has to be grounded in reality and existing religions and faith or can we step outside from that? Cults, something featuring the skeletons or trolls perhaps? Religious ceremonies of a darker, alternative nature? Would they be okay?
-------------------------------

I do this to you all every year. Sorry!

My castle has just a few Mega-bloks 2x4's thrown in, is this OK?
No, it's not OK. Better throw them into the fire. :D
But my castle is more then half finished! And there is only a few thrown in there, maybe 20 or so. And I don't think I have enough official LEGO 2x4's to complete it! If possible, please let this one slide, I promise to build smaller next time so I don't have to use them.

Custom/modified pieces?

I didn't see anything about the use of custom pieces, either allowing or prohibiting. I took that to mean that they were allowed, but I figure I should check first.

No. It should be a real technological breakthrough such as the overshot water wheel, printing press, etc.
2) "Build a scene featuring life with the sea. Ideas include ships, seaports, lighthouses, etc."

Watermills would be better in another category (see above). The moc should involve the sea or ocean. You could build an estuary with a river entering the ocean.
3) "Show how an event at or near a religious building influenced daily life in medieval times. Ideas include a wedding, feast day, pilgrimage, funeral, or coronation at a church, cathedral, mosque, temple, or monastery."

This category has to be grounded in a real religion in medieval times. Creating your own religion for the category is not an option.

It is ok. We expect it ;)

Can we build a Witch-Burning for the Religious Life category? If we include the whole church?

Okay...My turn to ask a dumb question, which I am sure has been answered before in years passed. I am hoping to produce a MOC which contains some motion elements. Flickr allows some small video uploads (<30 seconds). Would a video (especially a short one) be allowed as one image to show off motion, or should I edit a small mosaic image showing the succession of the motion, or what?

Thanks ahead of time admins! I feel goofy asking a n00b-ish question.

I have a question as well, beiing that if extra parts, that have been supplied with a set, are considered parts we could use for the MOC in the "Alternate universe" catagory.
Also if the MOC has to be something like the original model one uses the bricks from or if that is entirely up to the builder.

For the alternate universe/model catagory can we use more than one of the same set provided it is still one set name? It's probably not allowed but I've got something perfect if that is the case ,

Also, can we build a full size Castle for the Misc category, if it doesn't have any (clay-fired) bricks?

What custom pieces were you thinking of? Things like figs and accessories are addressed in the rules.

Certainly the Inquisition was an aspect of the Church.

We have always allowed people to used a mosaic-type image to show action features (e.g. a secret door) - I'd say this would be your best bet. I'm concerned that others might abuse the idea of videos to essentially skirt the three photos rule.

If either the Peeron or Bricklink inventory lists extra parts, those are okay. Let's face it, these are usually like a couple of 1x1 plates, so probably don't make a huge difference.
On your second question, let your imagination run wild. If you think back to the old set boxes, they would have pictures alternate models on the back using just the pieces in that box.

You can build whatever you wish for the misc. category.

I have already taken that extra part out, being one extra crown wich was with the set but not on the inventory list.
I posted my first entry already concerning these questions :)

In the "Alternate universe" catagory; do we have to use all/most pieces from the set?

does the eastern medieval building have to be a specific one or can it be a fictional one with an eastern style?
