Nnenn
Hey all,
I think a lot of us read the Brothers-Brick, so you probably know that Nate Nielsen, known to us as nnenn, passed away recently. He's known for his innovative space MOCs, but in looking through his Brickshelf this morning I was surprised to see a few castle MOCs also, in this folder.
In light of this month's build challenge, note that he also has a couple of different chess sets:
He's actually got several other chess sets based around sci-fi MOCs also:

Re: Nnenn
I didn't know him IRL but I thought he made some nice MOCs. What tore at my guts was reading about the family he left behind. As a father of young kids I always appreciated the joy he took in building with and for his kids. I hope they are reminded of good times and his love as they play with "his" bricks and that they are able to pass on some of that joy and love along with some of those bricks to their kids.

Re: Nnenn
Wow, unfortunate to see a builder of such talent go. He's got some fabulous MOCs and even had a piece named after him. Rest in peace nnenn; we'll miss you.

Re: Nnenn
Personally I don't know Nnenn much better than from a few messages sent back and forth, but man I was shocked to read what happened to him.
The LEGO community has lost a great pillar, a place that can never really be filled in, even if we wanted it to. Nnenn will always be a phenomenon.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Re: Nnenn
It always breaks one's heart to hear something like this. Moreso when you consider that he leaves behind a loving family. I really wish his family the best in what is obviously a very difficult time. He is definitely a builder who will be missed by the AFOL community.

That is quite sad to hear, though I didn't know this builder it is always a loss. Leaving a family behind is terrible, he will be missed by the LEGO community.

Re: Nnenn
This really floored me. It affected me more than I would have ever thought. A great builder, yes. But a great person too.
Bruce, thanks for bringing up the weapons that he'd built. I had entirely forgotten them. I'll post them on TBB later today.
Btw, we are having a week of Nnenn at TBB in his memory...

AFOL and his money are easily parted.

Re: Nnenn
I didn't really know Nnenn but it upsets me dearly that he has passed away and his children lost their father. Nothing I can do over the internet except wish them the best!

Indeed. It's hard to know what to say at a time like this that doesn't come off as an echo, but I do wish his family the most comfort possible.

Re: Nnenn
It's sad when any father/husband leaves a family behind. I wish I had the chance to know this master builder, who if I could only come close to his building level I would be a happy person. I can't help be awed and humbled by the MOCs in his Space LEGOverse. Very sad day.

Re: Nnenn
Nate was such an inspirational builder. The community is going to hurt because of this.
