The Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi

A fictional cathedral based on two real churches - The St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and Chartres Cathedral in France. The basic floorplan and most of the features are based on the neo-gothic style St. Patrick's, whereas the more classical gothic style such as flying buttresses and the asymmetrical towers are based on Chartres.

The Cathedral sits on eight 32x32 baseplates, and breaks apart in four baseplate pair sections. It features a full interior, swinging bells, "stained glass", plenty of interesting SNOTwork, and resident minifigs.

Hey Tony,

This is gorgeous! I've really enjoyed watching the progress and now to see the final is even better. Is this, or at least a segment, going to BrickWorld? If so, we simply have to arrange a CC sigfig photoshoot inside this. I'm so honored that my sf has a prominent seat inside.

It's such a treat to not only see the finished product, but to witness the planning/progress throughout the build as well. Your Castle creations have really matured over the years, Tony (and your train MOCs just started off amazing). :)

It turned out great! It was very interesting to follow the building progress and planning of this MOC, and the result is impressive.

Considering the location of the photoshoot, I imagine you got a few compliments on it.

Solid job Sava, solid job. Complete attention to detail on all of it, and some great detail too. Love the windows and every aspect of the interior. My favorite thing about it all is that while it is a stunning build, it is also a build I can relate to. I can look at that and say "I could do something like that someday", some MOCs are great, but truly beyond my ability to comprehend, this one though rests just beautifully where I can enjoy it. Great work!

It's amazing :woo:
The size of it is incredible, it really is one of the largest single minifig-scale structures I've seen. The details are wonderful, and I love the interior.
It has been interesting to see how it was build, it shows even more how much work something like this costs.
I loved you Ulmaris castle, but this one is your masterpiece.

Sorry Bruce, I know you didn't ask me but, Tony posted this: Brickworld or Bust on his Flickr stream a little while ago. I'd want to see it in person too...

Anyway, I think everyone agrees that this MOC is simply amazing. From the great details of the stone work, to the awesome stain glass windows, this is great. It's been fun watching it from its early stages to the finished product too...It's just...so beautiful!

Yes, I know Tony is hoping to be able to go to BW this year, since it will not be possible for the next couple of years. However, it is unclear if he would be able to bring this (e.g. if he flew or took the train, it would not be possible to bring such a large MOC, but if he drove he probably would). Hence my question.

Beautiful! You know maybe its just me but you seem to build best when your using real buildings as your inspiration. This has inspired me to my very core, I'm rebuilding my castle's church. Only critique is the light bley is mostly alone without any other colors being integrated, but a very minor critique none the less. Great Job :D !

Oh gosh this is amazing. I would like to see it on MOCpages though. (understanding time restrictions)
