32x32 Challenge - Kind of Blue

Post by nanuck95 »

I was pretty pumped when Trevor posted the announcement to do this again this year, I think this is a really fun challenge. I was a little dismayed at first at the addition of the primary colors challenge on top of it as I don't have tons of red, yellow, or blue brick. But, I figured I would give it a shot anyway with what I have and since blue was my most plentiful color, this is what I came up with.

I really like it! (Probably because my favorite color is blue. :) ) Aside from that, The structure looks like a cross between a castle and a beach house. Nice work!

That is beautiful, the use of different shades of blue is excellent. Way to go man, excellent answer to the challenge!

Wow, that's really quite nice actually. I think the gray mixed with the blue gives the building a really pleasing look.

That looks really spectacular. Way to work with that primary! The light grey really ties it together.

I'm loving the way you used the colour as wall 'panels' or painted walls. I would though, it's pretty similar to what I have been working on so now I have to make a small detour so mine doesn't match yours quite as much. Hmmmm....

You don't have any blue arches I'm guessing, which is too bad because I do find that little corner gap just a bit distracting but only at first though. The different shades was an excellent choice too.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.

It really manages to be both believable and blue :D . I could just imagine a wealthy merchant or a minor noble living in this house overlooking the sea. The blue to me has a very serene look. Well done!

Thanks for all the comments, I'm glad you all like it. Hopefully a few people will be inspired to give it a shot as well. I'm looking forward to what you all are going to make. :)

I wasn't thrilled about that part either actually. Yeah, you're right, I do have 2 blue arches, but I didn't have enough to do all the windows, so I decided to just do them all the same, I think if I were to make something a little bigger, I would figure out a way to frame the windows in with brown tiles or even more bley stonework. Anyway, thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. :)

It feels so cozy and by the sea. I'd rather like to live there. :-)

I have been building cliffs myself lately, and finding them to be a tedious and boring event where I end up repeating patterns without meaning to. So I spent sometime looking at your cliffs and I don't see those patterns that I often see in other cliffs. SO..very well done. I do like the actual building. It has nice structure. And I'm glad you attempted a blue castle. I have been meaning to try one myself (name pride and all). It does look more like a house than a castle, probably because of the blue, but I do really like it. Its a very good job.

Now that you mention that, I can see it but I wonder if it's more the lack of battlements that gives the houselike impression.
