Hm, looking at the Medieval Market entry in the Misc. category, is it just me or is it too big?

From the description of the Misc. category in the contest rules: "This category does not have a baseplate size limitation."

I have a question regarding the Realistic vs Fantasy Castle Figure categories. Should characters based on fantasy but that could be real such as Achilles (Troy), Maximus (Gladiator), or Aragorn (Lord of the Rings) be entered into the fantasy or realistic category? All are fantasy characters but with a slight name change (Greek Hoplite, Roman General, ect.) would be considered a realistic figure.

One quick question, does the Arthurian Legends count as a fairytale, seeing as they sort of are?

I asume, we are not allowed to use three-leaves-plant residues. These green snake-like plastic parts, like in this creation: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22824835@N ... 015454671/

The Arthurian stories (and knight's of the round table) that include fairies and/or magic (lady in the lake, merlin's betrayal by Vivien, etc) and also teach a moral lesson would qualify.

Yes, but not the cut modified version. An unaltered LEGO sprue would be acceptable.

I understand that each person can only "take home" one prize no matter how many 1st places they win. However, does the entrant get the chance to pick which category s/he wants the prize for or how is this determined?

For example, i'd like to enter 3 categories. If I won all 3 categories (in addition to watching pigs fly), I would probably prefer one prize over the other two, since I get to only be sent one prize. Would I get the chance to say, for example "I'd like my prize for 'Rob the Rich to...' and forfeit the other two prizes" or will a judge/admin choose which prize I get to keep of my winnings?

I was surprised nobody asked this yet because to me the answer will make a huge difference on what categories I enter.

TIA!

Yes, if someone wins multiple categories they get a say in which prize they take home. However, don't you feel that it's a bit presumptuous to say that you won't bother to enter a contest because you assume you'll dominate all the categories and don't want to be burdened with a prize you don't care for? Yes, it does happen that people come out on top in more than one category, but not very often. Our past master builders have sometimes, but not always, done so.

The purpose of entering a contest such as CCC is not just to win prizes but to have fun.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I don't think I'll be winning a bunch of prized and have to decide what I want. I just like to make sure I understand things before I go jumping in. Wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything :D

I'm looking forward to entering multiple categories and having fun building, I don't have half the skills of a lot of the builders around here :roflol: but I'm still going to try my best!

Wow it appears that we have another glorious contest in the makes!
I am not sure I will be able to get an entry put together this year. I just came off of 3 fairly large contests so I sort of need a breather. Those prizes do look tempting though.
Good luck to all!

Excuse me, i´m new to classic-castle.com, and i only registered because of the CCCVIII.
I am interested in creating and submitting a Fantasy Castle Figure. After reading the rules (and the categories), i only want to know, if painting a minifig (as an example for tattoos) is some sort of customizing or modifying? It is the first time, that i will work with modified bricks, so i am not sure about this.

Thanks for an answer and for this contest,

Andinym

Yes, that is an example of customizing.
