Yes. It does have to be a complete castle. You can design your castle open and show the "cutaway" in one of your three photographs.

Might have to sit this one out... stupid real life

...or I might have a few small cracks. Small ones, mind.

Thanks for running it again, must be a huge investment each year; much appreciated!

I have to say I've been looking forward to this all year! And now that I have enough posts this year I can hopefully participate in the team challenge. One question though, on the fairytale category; would something like a scene from Beowulf or Sir Gawain and the Green Knight be accepted in this category? Or perhaps the Saga of the Volsungs? These are not historical tales (particularly) and they do feature fantasy themes...

I was more concerned with being able to present realistic details in a size convenient for viewing in limited photographs using a reasonable amount of brick. In other words, trying to avoid being required to have a SHIP rather than asking about a fairly standard technique.

Two questions?

1) Would a rock quarry qualify for the Medieval Maintenance?

2) May we use custom cloth or simulated foliage as clothing for figures in categories other than Realistic Castle Figure, Fantasy Castle Figure or Miscellaneous?

The size limitations of all entries (exept for the custom figs, miscellaneous and Realistic Castle categories) is a maximum of two 32x32 baseplates or one 48x48 baseplate. Just read the Categories and Prizes page

While technically not fairy tales, these stories likely would be ok. Fairly tales usually include magic of some type an a moral lesson.

Please keep in mind that many fans have built Beowulf mocs in previous CC contests. It will take a really great moc of that type to impress us.
Would a rock quarry qualify for the Medieval Maintenance?
Yes, if you also show how that rock is being used to repair a structure.

Probably not a team challenge, but some other sort of sub-contest. We'll get back to you on that sometime soon.

I actually figured that out on my own and was in the process of changing my questions when you answered.

I also have another question. Would a 32X48 and a 32x16 attatched in a shape other than a rectangle be permissable?

Is it limited to minifigure scale?

This year's categories look very promising and i can't wait to see what everyone will come up with!
My favorite is the castle evolution category, for obvious reasons

You can do any shape you want as long as it fits inside the size limitations listed in the rules. Those sizes are maximums unless listed otherwise.

All limitations are listed in the rules. There are no other limitations. So, in a word, no.

Your series of MOCs was part of the inspiration for this category, along with these books (I've got a couple of those and highly recommend them).
