WAIT FOR ME!! WAIT FOR ME!! I have been super busy this month and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to build something Tolkien related so I threw together the first gate of Gondolin last night and this afternoon. I would have taken pijani's advice and built Helms Deep but I was really inspired by the 7 gates of Gondolin and I didnt have enough time to give Helms Deep justice. So here it is:

Very nice job on the lanterns! You might want to try a trans-yellow cone and see what that looks like. Keep up the good work! (I commented on MOC pages also.)

Wow. All I can say is wow. The Oliphants are great, as are the Ents, the Gate of Gondolin and the Helm's Deep Vignette are great. Wish I had seen the contest earlier.
Lego helps make history fun!

I've been talking with Woody about some custom-made helmets, and the one we came up was LOTR inspirated (remember when Frodo and Sam masked thems self walking trough Mordor in globlin helmets?:)
This should have been CCCC8 entry, but it took more time than anticipated
here's picture:
also, here are some variations
there could also bee more variations, like four horns (two more in right angle to those two), one horn on the top etc. Ideas are welcome, I have to think of few more to come to the shipping limit

Just to again emphasize - monthly building challenges are not contests, just an encouragement to build. There's nothing that says you can't continue to build MOCs inspired by Tolkien just because January is done.legokilt wrote: Wish I had seen the contest earlier.
