Village of the Crown

Postby Solus » Fri Jan 21, 2011 1:19 pm

I was a member here but I went thru another dark age for about 2 years. Here is my first MOC since returning to LEGO

Its a Fortified Village, Its an evolving project and I will be modifying it as I see fit. First, the setup, the Crown Army sets off from the Village to war; leaving behind a small garrison. The army consists of 10 Archers, 10 Spearmen, 10 swordsmen, and several Knights with differing classes. I imagine that this Army would meet up with a much larger force of allied nobelmen. There are several small vignette within this MOC. Like the small band of Orcs attacking and the majority of the Crownies being completely oblivious, a stealth Ninja scaling the keep, random villagers trying to pull a sword from the stone, and a few others.

There still is some work that need to be done, I need to finish the landscaping, ground within the courtyard and paths, the interior of the keep, and small accessories throughout.

There's a lot to love about this MOC. I really like that company of archers; it had never crossed my mind to use that hood for an archer before, but now I really want to. The blacksmith's wheel is another nice detail.

I really like it. Lots to look at and a good mix of colors, angles decor and structure.

Thanks everyone... :D

as for the archers; I just figured that a helmet might be too cumbersome while drawing the bow and thought something more lightweight would be appropriate. I'm thinking of switching out to the black hood though.

I've been working on this for about 4 months off and on with my little brother and many of the small vignette were for his amusement. Its been great, I still have a few things to finish and I also am remodeling it because there are certain things I don't like (i.e the gatehouse). I expect to be finished with it in a few weeks then its on to demolition to make way for a new MOC.

What I like the best is the structure of it, the colors, the minifig life is great also. Keep it coming!

The architecture on the castle though simple, is really effective with the time. Great work on the figs as well.

thanks everyone... its seems that my skill rests in minifigs and what not... I find the castle structure to be more practical rather than some of the larger more ornate MOCS I've seen. I envision this as a fortified town built for defense in a hostile land... thus frivolous decoration was not necessary
