Riverside Cottage

Postby Highwayman » Fri Jul 13, 2012 12:48 pm

I decided to do a small build that is not LCC related just to try something different. In the pictures you see an alchemist enjoying some leisure time at his riverside cottage. Enjoy! C&C is most welcome. C:

The roof work is a really nice touch. You definitely could have gone in a different direction with that but you nailed it. I like the fireplace as well. Considering the amount of space you allotted yourself, it ends up looking very neat and tidy. The color of the door is a nice contrast to the rest of the MOC. My only suggestion would be to add some color to the landscape. Maybe a few sprues of red or yellow flowers? Or some tree trunk work (brown or dark brown)? It's a sharp MOC though. River is a good color and texture with the round plates.

Thanks for sharing!

Nice build! I think a little more color like some flowers or a tree would be nice too!

Thank you both for your comments! I agree that an injection of color would help in livening up the mostly green landscape. It's funny how you don't notice these things as you build them and then it seems fairly obvious after others mention it. I'll keep a better eye out for differing colors in future MOCs. C:

@Halstud: The roof came along as an afterthought actually. I built the cottage without giving much thought to the roof. I ended up taking two plates, connecting them with hinges and basically dropped it on top. As for the river, I got a ton of trans blue 1x1s during a recent trip to a LEGO store and I thought they would do nicely for water features.

Cool cottage, feels very peaceful. The interior is very nice, you managed to fit quite a bit in such a small space!
Good work :D

Beautiful work. my favorite part is the interior, especially the chair and fire place. It makes it feel very cozy.

Nice job on this, as said it is very tidy. One suggestion I would have would be to give the river a more muddy or rocky bank.
You would rather be building right now.
