Whale Hunting

Post by Peter de Yeule »

My entry for CCC X in the Winter Scene category. I am a bit disappointed on how the white looks on this one :? I tried a lot of things to get it right: change the lightning, change the background, change the angle of the camera but after a couple of hours, I said the $%/" with it  and decided to keep the better looking pictures for the contest and scrap the rest. I have wasted enough time with this one.

Now, onto the MOC itself.

Whales were hunted in the Middle Ages as much for their fat as for their meat. It was a dangerous hunt. One dip in the icy water meant death in few minutes, maybe few seconds. But what a reward if hunting was successful ...

Mark of Falworth technique was very useful for this build. It helps create movement.

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

I have a hunch as to what caused this problem. Did you use a digital camera?

I really like the smoothness of the whale in this build. I also like the barrel dragging behind one of the spears in the whales back, it reminds me of Jaws.
You would rather be building right now.
