I really like the 'Classic Set Reimagined' category, but could really use the comparison. So I made a quick one:

That's really cool, thanks!

I was somewhat disappointed and discouraged when it became clear that these weren't just being recreated using current pieces, colors, and building techniques as the description suggested. Most were also built at a significantly larger scale and some bore only a passing resemblance to the original design. I thought the idea was to make things that still looked like they could have been official LEGO sets.

Of course, there were some incredibly awesome builds in this category, but it didn't end up being what I thought it was.

Yeah I also thought more along the lines of what you did. I'm glad I didn't enter that category because I think I would have been bummed after seeing what was really allowed in that category. That said, I have no problem with any of the entries, as all of them are quite amazing, and I appreciate the artistry that went into them with the inspiration of the original set in mind.

I think the builds are awesome and also as I expected them to be. I don't want to see LEGO set style buildings. I want to see state of art MOCS where the classic set is easily recognized and the details from the original is somewhat preserved.

Thanks for putting that together Bentoft!
Very cool to see the remakes next to the originals :)

Sorry if the category description was misleading. I was quite happy with how this one turned out. Thanks for putting together the side-by-side comparison, Bentoft! It's a great help for judging - I was going back and forth between the entry page and Brickset to compare things, but this is much easier.

These are fantastic! I really wanted to enter this catergory, but simply ran out of time. Also as I am fairly new to Lego, most of these sets are new to me. I love the job many did and was thrilled to see current techniques used to update some of the models. We have a talented group of builders in this community!

I really like the different features people added to their take on the sets. Some amazing creations all around. :)

Thank you for putting this together! I agree with Mark, it's fun to see which people added/removed which details.

Wow, now that I see it like this, I think that this was the best category! I love seeing how people have ingeniously modernized sets, it's a shame I didn't have time for an entry. :(
