My attempt to GAME OF THRONES minifigs

Post by albero78 »

Hi all,

I haven't posted MOCs in a long time since I am in a kind of dark age. I am still following the community and buying some LEGO sets from time to time, but I have not built anything in a long time. I have done something with LDD on the computer and build something, but since it is unfinished I haven't posted anything.

I thought then that maybe it is time to start with something small that does not require to take out from my boxes all the LEGO I have and lose 1 hour just to clean the table, put the LEGO on and start building.

I can define Game of Thrones (Song of ice and fire), both the series and the books, as surely the best media entertainment experience of my life. I came to the conclusion that I like much more that universe than the ones of LOTR, Star Wars, Alien, etc...
Since I started to watch the series I immediately thought about LEGO.

I know people already did wonderful MOC and figs inspired by Game Of Thrones, but this is my first attempt to create some minifigs based on the universe of Martin.

Well this is my attempt. I hope you will recognize the characters. All comments are welcome.

Sir Jorah, Daenerys, Cersei and Jaime II, Arya and... Ned? Anyway the figs look really really good.

I tried this myself once, too:

Daenerys, Viserys and Khal Drogo: http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB002.jpg I'm only happy about Khal Drogo, I didn't have any hairpieces for the Targaryens, so... : /

Varys, Littlefinger, Pycelle, Renly, King Robert, Cersei and the kids (with the hound in the back): http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB004.jpg

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB005.jpg Stannis with Melisandre, Davos and Selyse.

The Starks, with John, Robb, Ned, Theon, Sir Rodrik and Benjen. You can also see Hodor and Maester Luwin in the back, and a bit of Sansa http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB006.jpg

Tywin and Kevan, with Vargo Hoat, Amaury Lorch, Adam Marbrand and the Mountain in the back http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB008.jpg

The (original) Kingsguard: http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... aB1004.jpg

Better pic of Robert: http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... aB1009.jpg

Better pic of Joffrey, Lancel and Tyrek http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... aB1010.jpg

Better pic of Cersei http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... aB1013.jpg

Hodor firing Bran from a catapult http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB017.jpg

Catelyn with Arya and Rick Astley http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB031.jpg

Walder Frey http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... ofB033.jpg

I also saw this awesome pic of the Brotherhood Without Banners, made by Silent-Sigfig of the Brikwars forum: http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz21 ... ig/bwb.jpg

Uff nobody seems to recognize the third couple: it is Ygritte and Jon Snow!
You're not the first one who does not recognize them.

I see that you didn't used fleshies. I decided to use them because I had more choice of female faces :D

I don't think I had that many peaches at the time. I can see your point though and I did use Peaches for Pycelle and Cersei if I recall. Eh, I hate the 'show John Snow look', which is probably why I didn't recognize him. They made him such an insufferable derp who gets owned by everyone and is always looking emo, while in the books he's more of a cool and collected tough guy... and also looks way different than 'trying to look older than I am' show John Snow in my imagination. I was happy with the rest of the cast though.

I was inspired very much from the show in doing the minifigs.
Actually I discovered the universe through the show first, and during season 2 I started reading the books, which I almost finished now.
Looking forward season 3.

Well, most characters have been cast very well appearance-wise, the only major differences I can think of immediately are John Snow and Renly.
