I'm rather amazed that I received an honorable mention, there were so many deserving entries in every category! Congrats to all the winners and the other honorable mentions, I had a blast participating and am looking forward to next year.

A huge thank you to all the staff/judges here at C-C, you guys and gals put in an amazing amount of effort and time for this contest during a very busy time of the year.

Hello everyone,

I have been following the CCC for some years and by the time of CCCX I finally reached the critical mass of bricks to enter with something nice. CCCX was a blast, many great entries! Thanks for everyone involved, I honestly do not know how the judges did find time to parse through all the builds, hats off!

Cheers,
Adam

Congrats to all winners and too all those who took part. I really hoped to build more entry's but a hefty work schedule put an end to that. However I'm honored that my entry managed to win, lots of great entry's in that catagory so it can't have been an easy decision.

Always a pleasure to take part in this contest and long may it continue.

Many thanks to the Judges and staff and everyone else involved in the running of this contest and thanks to the many builders who enter. It's your great entries that help push us all to build better every time.

Just recieved the Black Falcon Fortress in the mail today. While this set is 27 years old, it holds up really well. I can't wait to build it with my boys. I will keep this one together always.

Thanks again to the admins for all the work you have done in putting this contest together!

ok. first of all congrats to all the winners! Those are some beautiful builds!

I have some questions about them, if thats ok? Can someone help me?

1~on the "ill advised journey" the rock work is excellent, it looks like some layers are sideways instead of upright. When you do that much sideways, are your building in sections and just setting them on? Or are they all locked together?

2~"Forest life" is STUNNING, by far my favorite build on there. Where do you get all the colors of tree leaves from?

3~The cathedral build, one image is of the underside of arches. the "supports" or little thin round poles, do not appear to be attached to anything... Are they glued in place? Are we allowed to use glue for these sorts of contests? If it is not glue, I have noooo clue how they got those to stick and would love to see the technique! Can someone please describe? its awesome.

4~ "Center of learning".... Where the heck can I get all those little thin color stripes for books? I saw some used on another build for tiles on a floor, they are so thin, like half of 1 peg.... How does that work?

Thank you in advance for any advise. And if it is stepping on toes to ask for so much info about techniques I am sorry!

It looks like layers to me. You can lock them together by using technic bricks and pins.

2~"Forest life" is STUNNING, by far my favorite build on there. Where do you get all the colors of tree leaves from?
Those leaves are made by a company called "Altbricks" http://www.altbricks.com/ although Lego now produces leaves in dark red and dark orange in a few sets. Altbricks are more affordable though if you don't mind using "third party" elements.

3~The cathedral build, one image is of the underside of arches. the "supports" or little thin round poles, do not appear to be attached to anything... Are they glued in place? If you zoom in, it looks like he has run a piece of string through them and "sandwiched" the ends of the string between bricks in the columns and top of the dome to hold it in place. Not technically a "legal" Lego connection, but most contests allow use of non-Lego strings and cloth. Gluing elements is a horrible horrible no-no!

4~ "Center of learning".... Where the heck can I get all those little thin color stripes for books? I saw some used on another build for tiles on a floor, they are so thin, like half of 1 peg.... How does that work?
The books are simply 2x2 or 2x1 tiles and/or plates in various colors, stood upright and stacked. Tiles have a small groove around the base which makes them look more "booklike" than if you were to do it with plates, but it looks like both were used here.

Thank you in advance for any advise. And if it is stepping on toes to ask for so much info about techniques I am sorry!
I hope I answered your questions clearly! Feel free to PM me if you need further clarification :)
