(LCC GC-V) Escape!

When things had gone wary, Hawk had to think on his feet. He had, in hindsight, expected something like this to happen, and had formulated a vague plan. However, his first plan relied on him being able to grab one of the forks from the banquet hall, which he had failed to do, as he was preoccupied hounding down one of the waiters for some Garhiem mead. Upon his return, he found himself being taken to the dungeon on orders of the new Queen and her Red Dragon guard.

fortunately for Hawk, he was able to make up a quick fib about him being a well-established business man with little combat training. Because of this, the Captain of the guard decided to send only a single one of his men to escort him to the dungeon, leaving more men to harass more prominent hostages.

Image
Deep into the dungeon, a new plan formed in Hawks mind. He saw a rock, just larger than his hand, that had presumably come loose from the wall. His escort, a burly thug of a man, took no notice of this detail. Hawk tripped near the rock, and explained he had to tie up his boots. The guard, not a particularly bright fellow, decided that he didn't need to pay much mind to this clumsy prisoner.
Image
Hawk reached down for the rock, and with the speed of a Loreesi lion, he smashed the rock through the slit in the guards faceplate and into the names eye. Hawk continued smashing the manes face in with the rock until he stopped twitching. He looked around, and saw no one in sight. Presumably, screams of pain where a commonplace occurrence in these depths.
Image
He quickly got to work strapping on the guards armor. It was heavier than his usual studded leather, but would provide an ample disguise. No one would bat an eye at a guard dragging the corpse of a particularly troublesome prisoner to throw into the smashing waves of the stormy ocean surrounding the castle...

Just a thought, how about recessing the round studs on the floor so that the top of the stud would be "even" with the tiled bricks? It seems a lot of people, in a hurry or not paying attention, would be stubbing their toes on the bumps on the floor. Other than that, nice job!

A nice touch would have been to give the guard some hair after you removed his helmet, but other than that, good job and good story.

I like the pattern in the floor. That looks nice. Agreed that the stripped guard should have some hair.

Thanks for the input everyone. This is my first attempt at a cobble floor, and I think I did it pretty well.

I agree that I could probably have added some hair to the guard.
