The next installment in Andared's journey...

Under the Cover of Darkness:

=======================================================================================================================================

When they arrived at Ainesford, Andared and the Dragon Clan ranger found that the city had been overrun. The Lenfel flags that once flew proudly above the walls were replaced with the sinister red and black banners of the Queen's army. Outside the city, a stockade had been set up with an entire company of outlaws guarding it. Entry through any of the main gates would be impossible. Fortunately, night had fallen, providing the perfect cover for Andared and his companion to approach the walls without being spotted.
"Quickly," the ranger urged Andared as they made their way toward the base of the wall. "Before the sentry returns."
Despite years of moving silently across the forest floor, Andared was far surpassed by the deft and nimble running of the ranger. Although he managed to hold his own, it was a struggle for him to keep up with the ranger and still maintain silence. Nevertheless, he eventually caught up with him at the base of the city wall.
"Alright," Andared lowered his voice to a whisper. "Now that we're here, what do you intend to do?"
"Well, it's suicide to go through the gates," the ranger began. "The minute the Queen's army saw a pair of Lenfels in armor they would either kill us right then, or starve us to death in some dungeon."
"That's a comforting thing to hear right before we break into a city full of them,"
Andared drily remarked.
The ranger ignored that comment and uncoiled a thin rope he'd been carrying.
"We're going to have to scale this wall."
Andared raised his eyebrows skeptically. "If any of the sentries spot us they'll turn both of us into pincushions..."
"Well then,"
the ranger replied. "You had better not get spotted."
With that, he tossed the rope into the air and snagged it onto part of the wall. After checking to make sure the rope would hold, he offered it to Andared.
"Don't take to long once you're up there. The less time we spend on the walls the better off we'll be."
Andared nodded, and began his ascent. Within a few minutes, both of them had safely scaled the wall. Neither of them said it - partly because neither of them would admit it - but they knew that this was enemy territory now...

This was a smaller build I've been meaning to post for a while now. Hopefully I'll be able to post a couple more installments before the GCV conclusion. Thanks for reading!

That brick-built tree looks really good. I'm not sure how I feel about the trophies/statuettes ornamenting the wall, but I like the wall itself. I want to get some of those brickwork pieces....

Excellent small build. Particularly like the Darkened background. Adds realism to your story.

That tree has become a staple in your MOC-building diet! Good story! Those profile bricks always look great on the walls, can't have enough of them!

I like the wall, but honestly the gold microfigs don't seem to fit. Otherwise, I really like this. The tree design is wonderful!
